Coke4 holds off fedfan resurgence, wins 6-2 7-6(5)

Really good game, first set was rather one sided and he really struggles with return but fedfan altered his game in 2nd, coming let loads, being more agressive and almost won. I was Tompson he was Lorenz.

1st Set:I get 0-30 on his serve straight away but he ends up holding to 30. I then hold easily and open up 0-30 on his serve again, he makes it 15-30 but then i make it 15-40 and i take the first break point with a winner. At 2-4 on his serve i get 0-40 after he tries serve and volleying and i break to love. At 5-2 he carved a 15-40 lead on my servem but i saved the first with a big FH down the line winner and the second with a servic winner. I go on to hold and take the set.

2nd Set: I open up a 15-40 lead but he saves it, the game goes on and he has a few chances to close it out but i stopped him nearly always with big, deep forehands and i had 1 or 2 more b.p, in the end i got another break point and i took it then held for 2-0. At 2-1 on my serve he started to get a few returns in which took me a bit off guard lol. He opened up 15-40 and broke back on first break point when a reasonably deep return caused me to sink my FH into the net. The rest of the set went to serve, i was holding more easily than me but he was putting some pressure on my serve, i had a few more break points.
Tie Break He starts by holding then i hold for 2-1, he then holds for 3-2 and gets a mini break when he comes to the net and causes me to hit a forehand out. He gets 5-3 but i stage a bit of a comeback, getting the mini break back to make it 5-4 then holding both my service points for 6-5. At 6-5 he hits a short topspin backhand out to gift me the game.

This was a very odd match for me, my return in the first set was once again appalingly short, although of course Coke is a clever server.

After I went a break down in the second I was pretty much gone, so I threw in a few half arsed SV and held, then I just chanced a few net rushes and got a break. I was still struggling more than him on serve but as the set went on and on, and his stamina seemed to be going down I suddenly thought, maybe I have a chance here.

I quickly came back to earth though when he bossed the breaker.

Lucky I got a bit of something out of this match, otherwise I could well have been quitting if I had been on the end of another easy loss.

me(bishop)-josenylund(gray):16 36

the score say everything about the match...
Jose played incredible!
Usually our matches are much more closer...today I didn't enter in the match...I couldn't do anything...
I knew that jose had many difficulties to beat lerc11 in the previous round and I thought he was not fit and instead...he destroyed me :!:
congrats mate...

Max.(Nakamura) def. Likos(Cannon) 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

1 set: i began putting pressure in his service and i had bp in the first game of the match, but he saved easily, then we won our services easy until 2-1, he broke me , i think i had bp in almost all his services, but he saved the 7 bp in this set, damn, likos always plays well the importants points, finally he served with 5-3 and this time he won easy his service.

2 set: i knew i had to be more aggressive, but when i tried it, his answer was a fantastic shot, i was a bit nervous, he saved 3 or 4 bp more until 3-3 (if i remember well),, then i had a new bp, he served well and was dominating the point, but he failed an easy volley (probably lag was the reason, because was the only volley that he missed in all the match), and i could win the set 6-3.

3 set: both players was very tired, and his cannon was missing more risk shots, but he saved like 2 or 3 bp more before i broke with 3-2, and won the set 6-4.

i had to run a lot in this match, i knew that would be very hard and honestly i thought in the second set that i couldn´t win, he was saving all the bp very easy , Likos has improved a lot in SIM, and his risk shots sometimes are amazing, much respect for u, now u are as good in MS as in SIM.

What can i say, it was simply one of the best matches i ever had, you covered everything maximo in your report! :P

I was being pressured in almost all my service games cause of 90 return of nakamuras and maximo's returning ability! But i managed to keep my mental state as if it was 40 0, and that saved me from a lot of trouble( and i had to serve really great against nakamura). But that wasn't enough as it seems   .

About the volleying thing, i rarely volley, but with maximo sending me almost every shot, i tried to close up the points whenever i found the opportunity. I did very well i must say and i will try it more often now.

Great match maximo, congratulations and good luck for the rest of tourney!

Josenylund(Gray) fights past coke4(Tompson), wins 6-3 6-7(5) 7-6(5)

A really high quality match with plent of breaks. But to be honest he completly out played me, the whole match i was holding on for dear life and he was storming through, i saved countless break points and really had to tough to do what i did today. But saying that im pissed off with the way i lost, i lost due to 2 or 3 really unluck errors, that being said Joseny had lots of unlucky errors, but he was also risking a lot.

1st Set- We both hold but at 2-1 he gets 15-50, i save the first but he takes the second. At 4-2 i get 15-40, he saves it. I went on to get 2 more break points, he saved them all. At 2-5 he gets two more break points but i save them both and hold, he served it out easily

2nd Set- He earns a 30-40 straigh off. I play aggresively on the break point and i hit risk after risk but he gets them all back, in the end i end up hitting a forehand down the line a bit long and a bit wide. The next game is really long, we both have chance to take the game, various chances we didnt take them, in the end i ended up taking it when he hit a Backhand crosscourt out. The rest of the set went to serve but there were more break chances. In the tie break i go up an early mini break, he gets it back but i get another. I open up a 6-3 lead, he wins his two service points to make it 6-5 but i got the set when he hit a forced forehand error on the run into the net.

3rd Set- He really starts dominating, getting duece in all my service games, plenty of break points as well, i was barely holding, he was holding easily. At 2-2 he gets 40-15 but i bring it back to duece and end up breaking. I stay on serve for a while but at 4-3 he manages to break back. I remember in that game at duece i hat an easy put away volley which i hit out giving a break points, he took the break point with a BH crosscourt return winner. In the breaker i go up a mini break but he gets it back. At 5-5 i have an easy put away forehand. The game decides its not to be and even though i timed it perfectly it went into the net. I was angry and R2 L2 his next return, it went out, and it was game set and match.
