It's Monday, again, time for "Monday's Obscure Movie Recommendation"®©TM

Certainly not for everyone, however, if you enjoy movies that wander far off Hollywood's beaten path, give it a look, you'll probably like it.

Bubba Ho-Tep is a 2002 horror-black comedy film starring Bruce Campbell as Elvis Presley - now a resident in a nursing home.

During the 1970s, when Elvis Presley grew tired of the demands of his fame, he switched places with an Elvis impersonator named Sebastian Haff. It was Haff who eventually died on the toilet in 1977, while the real Elvis lived in quiet, happy anonymity and made a living pretending to be himself. After a propane explosion destroyed documentation which was the only proof that he was actually Elvis Presley, he was rendered unable to return to his old lifestyle.

Elvis's only friend is a black man named Jack who insists he is President John F. Kennedy, claiming to have been dyed black after the assassination attempt, and abandoned in a nursing home.

How did I miss this thread...
I saw Up in the Air, An Education and Brief Interviews with Hideous Men on the weekend, in that particular order.
Up in the Air is a decent movie, but not that great. But I like Anna Kendrick a lot! :D
I like An Education the most out of these three. First time seeing Carey Mulligan act, I don't really get the hype. But Peter Sarsgaard did a pretty good job imitating British accent, but he is still as creep, if not more, as in Boys Don't Cry.
And I got lost watching the third one, the food and drinks distracted me...

I've always wanted to see this, looks really funny...

My Kind of Obscure Recommendation for today is 'Run Ronnie Run' starring David Cross....basically he's a complete redneck who is constantly getting arrested and becomes the star of his own reality TV show where he gets arrested for something different every week, blahblahblah just see the movie, it is ridiculously frickin hilarious

It's Monday again (err Tuesday) time for another installment of "Monday's Obscure Movie Recommendation"®©TM

This week's movie comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as it has to be one of the best films (certainly the best documentary) ever made.

Image

In short:

American Movie is a 1999 documentary about the making of an independent film. Milwaukee filmmaker Mark Borchardt feverishly works to finish his independent horror film Coven, but with poor financing and lack of planning finds it nearly impossible to complete. The documentary follows Borchardt's film making process from script to screen, and is interspersed with footage from both developing projects.

What do you know, it's Monday, time for yet another installment of "Monday's Obscure Movie Recommendation"®©TM

Image

This flick is WAY, WAY off the beaten Hollywood path, however, if you're in the right frame of mind (or wrong frame, depending on how you perceive things) it's definitely worth a watch.

PLOT: Rubin and Ed is about an eccentric, unsociable young man who is forced by his mother to make some friends before she'll return his stereo to him. He is joined on a trip through a desert by a pyramid-scheme salesman, to assist in finding a location to bury a frozen cat.

FUN FACT: Crispin Glover, the star of the film, appeared in character (as Rubin) on Late Night with David Letterman. His appearance is now legendary as he was removed from the show after nearly kicking Letterman in the face.

I'm a British citizen but have lived in the United States for a good chunk of my life. After watching these three documentaries, I'm now ready to move to another planet. :?

Quite good! 8)

Edit : Oops!I didn't know it was a French one!...Basically it is real images (archives,documentaries,...) and it's as if it was Georges W. himself speaking (commenting?) on the images... "Here, its me,Georges W,with my lovely wife going to shake hands to A. Gore...this sucker!"...
