Nikolay Davydenko vs. Fernando "Wizard of Oz" Verdasco

Postby Cro Morgan » Mon, 25 Jan 2010 03:11

Davydenko = Best player on the planet (if you only count the last four months).
Verdasco = Best player at the Oz Open in 2009 (if you don't count Nadal).

Davydenko has been great, but Verdasco, in Melbourne, is better :!: :!: :!:

Prediction = Fernando in four.

What do you think?

I think davydenko can beat verdasco. However, against fed it will be a straight sets win for federer. I know hes lost the last couple of times, but there is one difference between federer and davydenko:- 15 grand slams.

Davydenko 6-1, 3-6, 6-0
2005 ATP Masters Series Rome Italy Clay R64
Verdasco 6-3, 7-5

Absolutely zero, none of those results were from Melbourne. Verdasco is a different creature at the Australian Open. In short, Davydenko doesn't stand a chance.

Before 2009, Verdasco has never even passed 2R at Australian Open.
But I guess you would argue he's a different creature on Plexicushion...

EDIT: even with the SF last year, his record was merely 9-6, his worst Grand Slam.

Plexicushion? Exactly!

BTW, did Verdasco spend the off-season slurping lard? He looks huge. Hopefully (for me and my bold-ass prediction) this won't go five. :shock:

I am FULLY (120%) CONVINCED that I'm cursed with regards to tennis predictions. EVERY SINGLE TIME I make a prediction, it turns out horribly (tragically, even) wrong, soooo....I won't/can't say anything :cry:
