...on a different note, while staying within the tune....does anyone remember a groovy film from the 90's called 'The Commitments'? As an irish chap, I'm biased and love it to pieces - plus much of it was shot in areas I lived in or around when I was in University - heavy nostalgic connections - but a genuinely good film - Alan Parker directed, practically all of the music recorded live on the set, rather than over-dubbed from studio recordings - and generally very poignant and funny, in equal measure.
this was one of the guitar players for the band:
he was nicknamed 'outspan' because in the film he worked in the dublin fruit market - most the of fruit was supplied by company called 'outspan'...blah blah.
anyways - to the point - i just saw 'outspan', or Glen Hansard in a small irish indie movie, called 'Once', singing this song that he and a czech girl co-wrote, and subsequently won the Oscar for (best original song in a motion picture) in 2008.
Check it out - I'm a keen piano player - it stuns me sometimes how the very simplest songs can be sooooo potent and memory-sticking/affecting - of course, it's his voice too (cat steven's/yusuf islam will be looking for it back!!) and the lyrics....check it out!!!
