FIFA World Cup 2011 Womens. Who will win?

Postby MrMackNasty » Wed, 13 Jul 2011 15:49

Its down to the semis after USA shocked the world with an amazing comeback against Brazil. Some iffy calls by the ref made that game amazing. And JAPAN shocked all of the world by taking out the host nation and 2 time defending champions Germany.

So its down to the Semi-Finals.

Japan vs Sweden

USA vs France

I would have to say the United States because for some odd reason we dominate womens soccer for the most part. We have had HUGE success against France in the past and I see the US having no trouble with them after their close call in the Semi vs Brazil

I am looking forward to see the outcome of the Japan vs Sweden game. Japan is coming off the biggest win of their nation by defeating Germany in extra time. And the Swedish have had a solid world cup so far also beating the US in the group stage.

What is everyones opinion? I know soccer is huge internationally but is womens soccer for all you guys? I know I am one of few Americans who actually enjoy the sport!

why is mens soccer so huge internationally but womens soccer isn't? Is it because the US was pretty much the first country to have womens rights and everything?

i don't know, well i guess that, at least in Europe, the men dominate the sport, so why watching women?, i suppose is the same in the US with the NFL....no?

Umm its definitely one of the more successful womens league. I would never in my life watch a game or pay for a ticket. I guess some people watch it though. It is aired on ESPN channels(a major sports network). i think is has like 14 teams or so. Not too sure the exact amount. But womens college basketball is big too I guess. But men obviously dominate all of the sports her in the US for the most part other than Soccer.

well i see the point, you guys have football, what we called American football, and a real man plays football right?, and women play soccer...the sports for ladies....i think that many americans think this way.
We don't have that problem because we don't have that conflict between the 2 sports, we just play soccer.

Yea exactly. Do you guys have college sports for both men and women? Basketball, lacrosse, field hockey, track, swimming, soccer, etc. etc.

USA vs France is just about to begin. BTW this is the only time I even watch soccer. Womens or mens.

no, we don't have anything comparable to USA athletic system at universities , maybe England (Oxford and Cambridge) a bit, but here in Europe you go to the university to get your degree and that's all, sports don't play a part.

Thats why I dont think a single woman in the WNBA gets a million dollar salary and the NBA has to help out the WNBA just about every year
