Help with NAT

Hey guys,

For some reason my NAT has gone back to moderate and I can't play one of my matches. Can anybody help me out?

My modem is an Actiontec M1000 and my router is a Netgear WNR2000v2. I've already tried forwarding all the necessary ports from the router. I think I have all the following forwarded: 53, 80, 88, 3074 both TCP and UDP.

I set my Xbox to have a static IP (in the 100s) and forwarded all the ports to that IP address. But it still doesn't work.

Thanks for any advice you can give...

hmmm....you need 1863 open as well man - have a look at this link - it's specifically for your router and version:

This is the guide I used as well, I have 1863 opened as well, both TCP and UDP. I didn't mention it because portforward.com is the only site that says it needs to be opened.

As you can guess, this is incredibly frustrated. Every forum thread, youtube video on the subject I have found is either unhelpful (the advice someone gives isn't very useful) or just says to forward the same ports.

I must be missing something.

I tried forwarding the ports on my modem as well, but that just messed up my entire internet connection :?

EDIT: If this helps, I also downloaded and used their port checker tool, and it said the ports were NOT open. By I don't know if I used the tool correctly. In particular, I would think the tool would only be able to check if the ports were forwarded from the router to the computer. I have no idea how it would know if the ports have been forwarded from the router to the Xbox.

Do I need to give my computer a static IP address as well for this to work?

hmmm...curious.

you said above you can't play 'one of your matches' - do you mean by this that it's only one person you're having the problem with, or that you can't play any matches - sorry, the phrasing is a little ambiguous - and i only ask, because it may well be the other person with the problem....?

Thanks for the links, I'll look through them in the morning. To answer your question, yes it was only one opponent I was having a problem with. However, their NAT was open, I ran the system test and found mine was at moderate.
