OK, played yesterday for a few hours. One issue, the damn game needs and install of 1.5 gig. Which is fine, I don't care...but it would not install on my internal 4 gig card. (I have arcade version) :?

It still plays well, but the textures are crap. Especially when you have a very dark scenes and very b right scenes. You just get lost there...

Anyway, nothing 100$ can't solve

The game itself is great. Less freedom of choice then COD as far as weapons and stuff... but there are more of them and they feel more real, they just feel better. The auto aim is much less then in COD so you can forget about the quick aim and spray....you have to be careful.

The game modes are fantastic, MAP are WAAAAYYYY better then COD. The vertical fighting is a blast. Being able to climb on hills and destroy almost everything on the map is great! So is driving cars, hellis, planes, tanks.....they also have TDM now...so all is well.

It takes some time to switch off the COD mentality, but by the end of the night I was getting a hang of it.

Bottom line, me thins I will be skipping COD. It looks exactly like previous modern ware, same engine, a few extra guns.

Xavi, if you have an HD in your Xbox and a way to rent the game - try it. It is a better simulator of battle then COD. No doubt.

I bought Battlefield 3 yesterday and it's a great game. If you like the usage of vehicles during multiplayer games, this might be a good reason to prefer BF3 over CoD.

This week i'll be online a lot on BF3, so perhaps i might catch a fellow ITST'er online :D

Really enjoying this one! This game just came together very nicely for me. Just the right amount of frustration and tons of fun :D

Best part - viable options. None other shooter game has such balance....wish Tennis games were that balanced.

Before, COD had a "jump-in and play" kinda thing...but this time BF3 "gets" that as well. I can jump in a smaller MAP and shoot the cap of everyone, or I can play more tactical.

COD is still a fun game, but this time around I think BF has WAY more to offer.

Yeah bf is better but with 5 mates on SnD. I think I would rather junp on that than a solo jump on bf3. Battlefield will have much much longer playability

No worries here......both games will be sold by millions and will have full rooms till the next edition comes out.

I say rent it. Try it. If you like to be able to play on a larger map, tactical, real sniping...not the quick-scope crap  you will love BF3.

.....and you always have Team Death match with COD like game play.

Played BF3 today! the multiplayer mode(havent tried the single player) is entertaining, no doubt about that and that was actually what everyone was expecting from BF3.
But the graphics are really redicilous sometimes for a 2011 game with a new engine and all that stuff.
The operations are fine but i dont see anything UNBELIEVABLE! its just fine.

that's because the ps3 is old :( i ve played the pc version it looks awesome on a 1000euro pc. probably they had to reduce graphics on ps3 quite alot because of game advanced mechanics if you compare to other fps's.

but it doesnt look that bad imo.

oh btw after finally playing the vehicle maps i found it great too :) maps are really well designed to bring a large variety of gameplay. im just a little dissapointed cause you cant destroy almost everything like you could in bc2.

Yeah, i think you are right! that might be from consoles limited hardware, the game is huge with big maps...so that might be the case, but still, it doesnt give me a good feeling when i see water looking like some of PS2 games  but the game is really fun....i played some squad matches and unlocked the better guns faster, it got easier to spot the enemies and actually shoot them... so it was even better.

Wow... I played the Battlefield solo campaign... And I say it sucks big time!!!
You're completely like a spectator! You shot a couple of times and that's all! Most of time you cannot do what you want, when you want, NPC will even move you from where you are cause they're supposed to be at your place, making you fall under bullets rain... :/ (They will also, of course, move right between your spot and the ennemies you're aiming at...)
You also have to wait for the games "see" that you are at the mark to move on... If you want to try to go further but quicker than the game : not possible...

That said, this game has maybe the best online/multiplayer mode for an FPS! You can't do a lot better... (I think!...) Awesome maps, awesome sounds, awesome gameplay, a lot of actions possible : you even can dogfight with jets!
But before playing the multiplayer, you have to install the game, then the HD mode, then you have to write a code, to download something... One day you'll have to download a patch just to be able to use your own controller!...

Personnaly, I prefer FPS like Borderlands, or like that recent game : Rage
Rage is a very nice and surprising FPS... If you're a bit enough with all those "big hit all times classic FPS" (like COD or Battlefield), you can try this one! :tu
