Yeah, I came across it reading through the Metal page on wikipedia and looking through sub-genres

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pornogrind

And before you ask anything... Me, myself am not into that sorta stuff. I'm generally a rock/metal/prog guy, and only like a few bands which have screams/growls :)

To be honest I try to avoid getting too deep into the whole genre thing, I think it's counter-productive to actually listening to more good music. A lot of people dig them into this hole where all they listen to is one specific genre or they have to know exactly what genre something falls under...totally crazy to me. Not saying you're one of those people at all BTW :) I just hate those people, they're always pretentious d-bags. There's nothing wrong with classifying a band as a certain genre, but I think things are getting way too specific nowadays

Haha Pornogrind...yeah I've read the same Wikipedia article and I too was like "WTF?". Not really something I'm into to say the least hahaha...if you're a band and you're specifically setting out to be known as a 'Pornogrind' band, I hate you. I really hate you.

Grindcore I usually just lump into 'Death Metal'. I like a few bands that are known as Grindcore I guess, like Rotten Sound, Napalm Death, Terrorizer...and that's it really. Not too into grindcore I guess. I like actual songs and most grindcore bands have this weird habit of making like 45 second songs... :?

I'm more just into classic death, black, and thrash metal.

Speaking of metal my band has a show tonight! \m/

Our bassist and singer have been to practice exactly once in the past month and a half...this is gonna be the worst show ever  Maybe our last show with them who knows.

In terms of genre-lization I think it's best to be a multi-genre band... in today's musical free for all it's better to be somewhat versatile, no matter what music you specialize in.

knock 'em dead Jay! and abt pornogrind I'm not even gonna ask :?

I got a gig too with my band tonight.

Yeah, over specific genre's are stupid. Oh the days when it was just rock, metal, pop, dance etc   (or the normal people, the indie kids, the moshers, and the gangsta mo-fo's )

Yeah, people like that are annoying as hell. I named those 3 genres I like, but again thats just a general. I like music that I like, but that doesnt usually stray of those 3 genre's.

Cool, hope its a good gig.

Have fun shouting at them 8)

EDIT: I also have a tendency to look out things which don't really fall under any specific genre at all 8)

Well my show went pretty damn well, it was really fun...super tiny bar that we played at so all the audience is right up in your face. I kinda drank a little too much right before the show and my fingers felt like they wouldn't do what I wanted them to do for the first 2 songs  My bassist accidentally stepped on and disconnected my guitar cord 4 TIMES   , 4 friggin times I had to completely stop to plug my guitar back in. Other than that it was awesome though.

Howd your show go J dubz?? What do you play?

LOL Jay that sounds like a rough night!

My gig went great. I'm a singer so I get to jump down off the stage/platform and dance with chicks right in front of their boyfriends and/or husbands and NOT get shot for it!!! it's all part of the act o:)

no but seriously I enjoy performing and we do lots of stuff...jazz, alternative rock, modern pop and r&b...motown...reggae...lots of stuff. The people love us and we always gain some more fans every week we perform. I just can't wait for wedding season $$:D$$8)$$:P$$:wee$$

I just hate sweating out my clothes dancing all night!! And tonight I made the mistake of drinking an apple martini before our last set and it ALMOST snuck up on me lol... in the middle of our second song I was feelin real loopy :wee: for a while lol

Are you guys a cover band???

Man I drank 4 beers before we even played our 1st song  In like 30 minutes. We were all drunk...that's how we play every show  It maybe made us a little sloppy but we were totally uninhibited last night cuz we were all so friggin drunk. Best stage presence ever last night...I actually poured a quarter of a beer right onto my head in the middle of one of our songs  Kinda had to be there I guess

I dunno who this will interest here but the mighty CHILDREN OF BODOM have recently released a new album and it's seriously badass!!! Sounds like the Bodom of old so far, though I haven't listened to the entire album yet, I just got it.

So in keeping with the topic and in celebration of this new album here's something from COB's 'Hatebreeder' album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ypaXbNLxtg&feature=fvst

I'm definitely gonna catch them on their tour if/when they come to the US
