For the Hendrix lovers...
Hendrix playing a blues (hear my train a comin' ) on an acoustic 12 strings guitar...
I love the part where he stops and ask to do it again,he "was scared to death"!...

Weird images at the end...It's not the same time (year?) than the song record...And his girlfriend (is it a girl? :? ) looks like a pure junky :?

Honestly? Yes.

It was good for it's time, and when I first started playing guitar like 10 years ago, I thought 'Eruption' was the pinnacle of guitar soloing but it's really rather simple, and let's be honest EVH was probably drunk off his *** when he recorded it (he has fully admitted to being very intoxicated while recording another one of his more famous solos, the solo to MJ's 'Beat It') and you can tell, it's actually super-sloppy!! But it's kind of hidden by the massive reverb and flange effect. Technically-speaking there are many, many, many guitarists whose technique is light-years ahead of EVH's. Wank-artists like Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen come to mind (and any of their clones, of which there are thousands).

rant over  Eruption's an awesome solo/song but I had to answer your question of "can anyone top this?" EVH's still one of my favorite guitarists of all time and he's definitely one of the top blues-based shredders of all time though.

Personally I think Muhammed Suiçmez from the German death metal band Necrophagist is one of the most insanely technically gifted guitarists, ever. I doubt you're into death metal but he puts basically anybody else on planet Earth to shame with his shredding

I take back everything I said. I thought Eddie Van Halen was a guitar God, that is, until I discovered any 10 year-old can do what he does...

That's pretty good for a 10 year old, but he's sloppy as hell and completely leaving certain little (difficult to replicate) parts out

When I first started getting pretty good on guitar around age 16 or 17, my friends made me play this damn solo anytime there was a guitar and amp around. I quickly instituted a "No Eruption, Ever" rule

Despite being nominated for 11 Grammy Awards, John Hiatt has never enjoyed much commercial success. His most successful album (Perfectly Good Guitar, 1993) reached #50 on the American charts. From that album, one of the many gems, Permanent Hurt...

Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

This is the gayest video I've ever seen! I have 2 friends who are gay, and I'm sure they would think this is as retarded as I do. Will forward it right away for a reaction.
