I was just about to type 'Your cops need guns' (basically) but it appears this is all about a cop shooting a teen?

If the teen was pointing a gun at the cop, he got what was coming to him unfortunately. The same thing would have happened over here...the police anywhere do not take kindly to having a gun pointed at them, and I think any person with common sense knows that you should be prepared to die if you do so.
not on patrol but if they get a a dispatch call where guns are involved they do and yes it's about a teen getting shot by cop and this has been used a a pitful excuse for violence personally, i think this is being done cos they could target notting hill carnival in three weeks as the PO-PO are making arrests to stop organised plans to disrupt carnival

i never shot with a gun but i m pretty sure it s easier to aim in the chest rather than in the arm when you need to be fast, when you are scared because you might die and leave your family in pain.

it's not because you re a cop that you are used to such an extreme situation and can apply your theorical training with cold blood etc

Yeah it's very very hard to hit somebody's leg.

That's something you try to do if you have a sniper rifle or something

When someone points a gun at you, you don't shoot them in the leg/arm.

#1 - even a well trained shooter can miss such a small target.
#2 - if they don't drop the gun, they'll probably shoot back.

You shoot to kill, or you don't shoot at all.

That being said, this is pretty freaking cool:

so when you have taken someone's life justified or not that;s what you'll tell it to hard to shoot his leg so i kill him i didnt say it was easy nor i expect it to be but they are trained for situations like that yet recently it seems they making sound as if the only solution was to shoot to kill why all that training when you only aim for one spot

Yeah standard police carry pepper spray and a nightstick, generally. very rarely a taser. But armed units are easily called upon if needs be. But yeah basically a load of reprobates have jumped on the bandwagon to steal/burn/smash shit up.

They train to shoot to kill!! I don't know where all this business about 'shoot him in the leg' even got started!

But either way it's still not a good reason to destroy the city.

This is not even about the teen shooting anymore.

People are just joining in the chaos because they want to, people using bbm and twitter to invite their mates to come and join in and maybe pick up a new pair of trainers or a tv in the process.

It gets me so angry when people say it's kids getting pressured into gangs and so on. There are plenty of people that don't get in this situation aswell it's not an excuse when people choose the wrong path in life.

They are basically just terrorising the city and should be dealt with harshly.

its just mindless violence . its so embarrassing for the Uk. Other countries protest for real issues like their own freedom. Kids in London protest just to get their hands on an HD tv. Pathetic.

I have lived in a tough neighbourhood for a while do i understand as well as most peeps see I was offered the chance to join the gang in my hood but i refused knowing if i did i would see the inside of of a jail cell or die young so i didnt i was picked on and ridiculed by the gang. so you see not everyone has the strength to withstand what i did and not conform because of fear of being a victim and target so they join thus not becoming a target.

Good for you supinesmokey13 but then what it is that makes someone have the guts to make the same choice. Have they had the upbringing that instills some sound moral values whilst others don't?

If this happened in the US I think we would be seeing a much tougher crackdown, then again maybe these wouldn't be considered riots over there.

And to top it all Police are in for a load of cuts, yet there is obviously not enough to cope with the situation, police being moved to London to assist is leaving other areas short and now other major cities are seeing similar antics
