Cyclism... Shave your legs before posting !

Postby Amazing Matheja » Wed, 04 Jul 2012 19:51

Just to talk about cycling in general, and about that Tour de France 2012 ! ^^

Can Cancellara win it ?
Is it only a Evans/Wiggins duel ? Who else ? Can a French win it ?
I hope that Rolland will be good, and also hope for another rider to fight for the win (Menchov ? Nibali ? Esjedal ? Kloden ?... :) )

And who other than me hope that Armstrong will be punished ?...

Im an avid cycling fan so i applaude this thread. :) I do some cycling as well on my old rusty bike. Only in good weather though. :P

Can Cancellara win what? The TdF 2012? I know there are a fair bit of time trail kilometers this year but thats just not going to happen. It will be Evans vs Wiggins. I like how Menchov is riding this year. Always up front and alert. Thats been a lot different in past years. He is one of the worst GC riders when it comes to the down hill section though. And there are a few mountain stages which end down hill. I dont really see another rider winning it except when both riders fall. Ill add Froome to the list of maybe's. Maybe his Vuelta was a fluke but in essence he has more GC potential then Wiggins.

I was dissapointed in Rolland's prologue. I thought he was pretty good at time trails?

Haha ! I knew you're gonna like this one ! ^^

The Cancellara thing was a little joke !... But who knows ?... I remember Voigt doing big climbings (I know it was to bring his leader at the speed they wanted to attack the most important part, but he did impress me !)...

I too like what Menchov does !... He doesn't seem to have any pressure, he could surprise some people !

I didn't pay attention to those downhills... Interesting ! Watch for Casar in those stages ! ^^

As for Rolland, I would say it's a bit like for Schleck... Time trials is not his best abilities at all !... He's young and maybe he can improve in this particular effort... You mustn't move, you must be profiled like a rocket, and you have to be able to push hard... I think he is a bit far away from all that yet...

Me I'll add Van Den Broeck and Rogers in the maybe's !

avid fan here as well, right know i'm having fun watching Peter Sagan, what a great rider, big big fan of this guy.

About the guys with most chances to win in Paris mmm well i'm not gonna talk about the duel between Evans and Wiggins, obviously these 2 guys seem to be the main favorites.
I wanna see if Valverde can have the level he had before the doping thing, another interesting rider is Gesink, he could do well too, and also it'll be interesting to see if Hesjedal after getting the Giro is in good form to be up there.
About the french guys, yep no doubt about it, Rolland is the man.

PS: I already have my legs shaved :D

I couldnt face my fellow comrades tomorrow if i didnt mention the Dutch cyclists as well. Mollema and Gesink will do well. Gesink is a bit like Menchov was. Always involved in the wrong crashes. But Mollema is an exciting talent. Maybe either one can surprise.

I would have like to mentioned Westra as well. Not sure if you saw Paris - Nice but he almost won there by winning in an uphill stage. Was pretty impressive. But he has been involved in a crash and already down by 7 minutes. :(

Westra at Paris - Nice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vg351bvyE6g
From 20 seconds. Sorry for the Dutch commentators.

I like Cavendish ! He's funny too... in his own style ! ^^ I don't know why he is angry so often ! ^^ But what a sprinter ! One of my favorite of all time was/is Oscar Freire : He didn't need anyone to help him in the sprints, and that's what await the Cav' this year... If he wins the green jersey like that : Big, big congrats !...
I hardly see Valverde as a winner of a Tour... I know he won the Vuelta but... It was another "era"... he's a lot like Philippe Gilbert... He can win almost any Classic he want, and... why not the Paris-Roubaix one day ?

Really ? Haha ! (Does it REALLY gives you time ?... I guess yes, if not the pros won't be doing it, but I always wonder about that... ^^)
(Myself, I have my legs... really hairy ! :D)
And your bike is superb Xavi ! Wow ! You must have excellent feelings with it !... (It must be quite expensive too !... ^^) Edit : I remember now ! : You do practice Triathlon no ?...

I was to say Mollema but I don't really know him, I saw his ranking and think "Ah... Is he another new good rider from Netherland ?"...
And I'm also very curious about Esjedal...

Hey ! What are the stages you don't want to miss ? I work a lot these days, so I think I will only see the stages on sundays... :(

Edit : Wow ! Thx for the video about Westra ! Nice attack from the front !... I will watch him now !

Not even Contador could win the Giro and the Tour in one year. And he didnt even ride the classics like Flanders and Roubaix like Hesjedal did. I would be very surprised and would instantly join the Hesjedal fanclub :).

Fignon did... (But Italians cheated in the Giro ! ) (Haha ! Don't even know why I think of this... Who was the last to do it ? Merckx ? hinault ?)

I don't know this Jean-Paul Van Poppel no... :/ (But funny name ! ^^ sorry...).
Wow ! 9 stages on TDF, 4 on Giro, 9 on Vuelta ! Nice ! But he never won any "sprinters" jersey... Difficulties to climb ? Like Super Mario ? :D
Edit : Oops Sorry ! Just saw he won the green jersey at '87 TDF...

Not really as awesome as Xavi's bike but i like mine. Its all i could afford at the time and the frame makes for some nice conversation material from time to time. I couldnt find a great picture but you get the idea. Its a Colnago competition art decor. Once i finish studying and get a real job im gonna buy a proper racing bike.

This is not mine by the way just the same model So i have a different seat.
