London Riots

Postby fedfan » Mon, 08 Aug 2011 20:27

Seriously people rioting and looting through London for what now appears to be no reason at all. Police don't seem to be able to do much and all the politicians are on holiday.

Glad to see a bunch of yobs can't just go on the rampage in the nations capital.

Started yesterday in a borough of the city on the back I think of a youth being killed by the police I think. Cars and buildings set alight, looting etc.

Today it's spread across the city and just gangs of what looks like youths just going on a free for all causing more damage to the community and looting and basically acting like scum, looking like it will get worse as night sets in.

No excuse for this just disgusting and infuriating.

It's times like this I get frustrated with our softly softly approach when tackling these situations. Innocent residents and businesses being destroyed by their own communities and police and firepeople being stretched.

Get the water cannons or something out and stop pussyfooting around, just seems more and more people are seeing this as an open invitation to start trouble.

So many of these thugs are just young kids. Sad state of affairs that a minority give most people a bad news.

Makes you worry if a bunch of unorganised youngsters can cause so much disruption how we would cope with an organised attack on us, aren't the authorities supposed to be trained for these situations.

Bring in the tanks, time to play hard ball with this lot.

They know the police can't touch them, must be so frustrating for the police that they can't just crack the lot of them.

nah i live in stonebridge you may have heard of it amir khan and Audrey Harrison raised money and awareness about a boxing gym in the area anyway to the point most of these young guys join the gangs because of peer pressure and protection so if they join the gangs wont target them.

as for the police who shot and killed a teen surely he was taught how to shoot and disable someone with a gun without killing them.

sure this is all mindless violence. but the shooting is true they should expect a backlash like this i mean the police are to enforce the law but killing a teen will set off mindless violence

i don't think so. for sure it s better if the cop can spare the retard's life but he s not supposed to take extra risks for it if he is facing a gun...

anyone should expect to get killed when they start to aim weapons at ppl

Just to be clear, the teen did shoot at a police officer first.

hey it not condoning what the teen did in anyway shape or form, the police's job is to serve and protect not kill now we weren't there to determine whether or not the police officer was not able to shoot to disable the teen or his only option was shoot to stop permanently i.e. kill .so I far as I know there was the option of disabling him for shooting by shooting him in arms and legs

So the cops carry guns over there?

I was just about to type 'Your cops need guns' (basically) but it appears this is all about a cop shooting a teen?

If the teen was pointing a gun at the cop, he got what was coming to him unfortunately. The same thing would have happened over here...the police anywhere do not take kindly to having a gun pointed at them, and I think any person with common sense knows that you should be prepared to die if you do so.
