ITST: At the Movies

If you want to recommend/bash a movie, this be your thread.

Saw "District 9" and "Up in the Air" over the past two days. I'm not a huge Sci-Fi freak, but District 9 was damn good. Looking forward to District 10 (supposedly already in production).

"Up in the Air" was also good, but not Oscar-worthy-good as everyone seems to be suggesting.

Anyone care to comment on "Inglourious Basterds." Heard it's great. I have it queued up on Netflix, but the wait is long. :?

"Avatar" = MUST SEE!

"The Hangover" = very funny, but a bit overrated, IMO. Could do without all the Mike Tyson crap.

I think Avatar was stunning in terms of effects, can't deny that and it's a good experience to have. As a film, I mean, in terms of story, I think it's not good, too predictable and not original at all, has many influences from african tribes, Pocahontas story, star wars, etc.

Inglorious Basters I just can say if you didn't see it yet, what the hell are you waiting for?????? I loved that movie, Tarantino's texts are just simply genious. Kudos to Christopher Waltz (Hans Landa AKA The Jewish Hunter) role, it's brilliant.

Inglorious bastards was not my favorite, really didn't enjoy that one.

I recommend "funny games" to anybody who hasn't seen it.

Up in the Air - Agreed that it was good, but I don't see the big deal either.

I saw Inglorious Basterds in the Netherlands, and all the subtitles for the French parts were in Dutch :? so I think I may have missed or misunderstood some of the funny/interesting conversational parts. Still liked it a lot.

2012 was exactly what I expected - lots of shit blowing up and falling into the ground with the main character just barely surviving every time.

The last movie I've watched at the cinema is "BROTHERS" with Jake Gyllenhal,Tobey Mcguire and Natalie Portman.
It's a very intense movie.I suggest it to everyone...
I lile very much "SHERLOCK HOLMES" too...Robert Downey is great!

True that. Not sure about Sherlock Holmes (haven't seen it yet) but his performance in "Tropic Thunder" was above and beyond. Great movie!!! Even Ben Stiller was good (really good, actually).

Also, "Iron Man" :tu

Brothers is a really good intense drama. Tobey Maguire was really good in it.

2012-great special effects-a bit cheesy though in parts.

Funny Games-really good but very dark, watch the original
if you do not mind subtitles.

The Lovely Bones- good, different but something was missing.

Hangover: Pretty funny, but unfortunately you can watch it only once - after that all jokes are gone.

Inglorious Basterds: Amazing movie in terms of actors. I laughed more about how they acted, especially Waltz, than about the actual story and so on. Definitely a Must-See. And: I'm no Tarantino-fan, but I liked that one.

Last and relatively recent movie I saw: Gran Torino. Worths it!

I know this is only your opinion, but it's not true :D !!

I think 'The Hangover' is the funniest movie I've seen in theaters in YEARS. I guess if you are not much of a drinker/drug abuser/hedonist freak you won't find much of it funny, but I own it on DVD and I laugh my *** off every time I watch it (which is now probably about 10 times).
