Hey guys,
there's been big discussions about not having any new tennis games, so once in a while I searched for some mobile tennis games. I hated all of them and got bored really fast with stick tennis, cross court tennis and so on. Until a week ago I found "Tennis champs returns". It has to be one of the most addictive games out there, as yesterday evening I was playing it for 2 hours until my fingers were dead, but I held my French Open title in the end and couldn't be happier. Later I found out it was with novice level , with pro level I have to upgrade my player, as it is impossible to compete with my 2,5/5 star player against the 4 and 5 stars players.
Ok, about the game. What amazed me, was that there are all types of shots (flat, top spin, slice, drop shots, lobs) and also serves are flat, slice, or kick. Before making a shot, you need to time the swing when holding the button (so not holding it all the time like in tennis elbow as in tennis champs it is critical you don't hold the button for too long), also the earlier the swing, the more you can make a riskier shot with shorter angle. At times it even seems it allows to take ball on the rise too much, but hey it's just a game. And it's great fun!
If you play an amazing point, you can watch the replay over and over and also I understood you can save the replay, haven't tried that yet.
Career mode is what I play, and you can just upgrade your player when you play matches, no boring training sessions to do that. Oh and grass courts are much faster than clay, that also adds to the timing mastering experience .
Also the computer opponents are different, ones are baseliners with great powerhitting, others are net players, and also mixed type of players (for example varied chip and charge slices is really horrible to deal with as the timing to return the slice you have to start swing later). Players also have different stats on forehand, backhand (power, accuracy, control) and serves , net play and movement.
You have to try it to believe it. Although the graphics aren't as realistic, the gameplay is incredible .
It's written it's an old Amiga game makeover, but what a blast haha.
