Word of the Day: Trolling

Oh nooooo, not that one! Yep, that one. One of the most overused and annoying words in internet existence at the moment. This word in its most common context was basically cooked up by people with an awful sense of humor who have an inability to make funny statements. They then chastise people who are by accusing them of "trolling." Or something to that effect. Now I'm aware that there are certain types of trolling that fall out of this distinction but it's just become too broad and vague of a word to really be confined to any one meaning, and that is why today I will provide you with an alternate definition to enhance your vocabulary.

The term is widely misunderstood by many as meaning "troll" like or doing things like a troll would (The behavior of trolls on internet forums is still an underfunded research area).This certainly provides a great mental image, but trolling is actually a fishing reference. As in I'm trolling for tuna with this giant net behind my boat.
Or, I'm going to make a ridiculous, offensive, or incorrect statement with the intention of "catching" people into the argument.

I like bill's definition better though.
