Weekday only rounds

Postby Wrathchild tw » Wed, 13 Apr 2011 08:11

I don't remember this happening before so not sure if it's something new, but TS4 Johannesburg round 1 dates are Monday - Friday. Because of the limited time available on weekdays when we work, my opponent in another country cannot be available during the times I am, and vice-versa.

1) Would it be possible to have each round include at least one weekend date?

2) What happens in this scenario? We're both offering a 4-5 window each day but when he's available I'm at work and when I'm available he's in bed.

Talk to the host about extension. Important is that when you ask the host this you already have agreed on a time on Saturday so the host can be confident the match is actually played.

It is not the first time that adding Saturday to the first round has been proposed as idea. I think its better as it is know though. This way most players are forced to try and play the match before the weekend and you have an extra day for arranging and playing the second round. I think that if we add Saturday to the first round we will just move the problem to the second round. Arranging a match and playing it just on Sunday(so in 1 day) across the US-EU timezone difference is not going to happen in many cases.

Your always going to have problems with weekday matches but if we keep extending it's going to take 3-4 weeks just to complete one event.

How is the decision made when both players have communicated to each other and attempted to schedule a match but the time difference makes it impossible to play the round?

"No match" result will be reported

What does a no match result mean? My opponent was given a walkover against me when we both tried to arrange a match but it wasn't possible.

this is a major factor in the reasoning behind me not playing anymore.....i remember times i would wake up at 4 or 5 in the morning to play my match before work and i was criticized for being addicted to TopSpin from my fellow family members

thats not addiction man. Its just that is the only time to play with people across the big pond.

I dont know why they would call that addiction. Are you going to play TS4?

So is it wrong that my opponent received a walkover against me? I can't get the tournament host to respond to PMs about it.

No replies to that? I still don't have an answer from the tournament host, no response at all.

If you cant get a response from your tournament, then PM one of the senior tournament host. They will instruct you on what to do next.
