ITST Cup 2021

Postby Mairon25 » Thu, 03 Dec 2020 23:30

Inspired by ATP Cup, I propose we hold an ITST Cup in January next year. Having in mind that we don't have many active players from enough countries, I'm thinking we should have 8 countries competing, divided into 2 groups with 4 countries each.

Option one: 2 players per country, with a doubles match deciding the winner should the score is 1-1 after the two matches played.

Option two: 3 players per country.

The group stage will function in the same way as ITST/ATP Finals, two countries will the best score will qualify for semi-finals.

If you're interested to play for your country, post in this thread.

Obviously, the format will be determined based on player interest. The above proposal should apply if we find only 8 countries with players willing to compete.

Seeing as there won't be enough players to find to represent their nations and close proximity to Nations Cup, I propose a completely different format. Instead of nations, players will form teams themselves and choose a name for their team.

The tournament, consequently, will be named 'ITST Team Championship' and be inspired by the ATP Cup.

FORMAT

The exact format is to be decided later on when we know how many teams will compete. There should be a minimum of 8 teams in the tournament. There will be a group stage and an elimination stage.

RULES

A team should consist of 3 players.

Three matches are played, the team with a 2-1, or 3-0 score wins.

Players should sign up for the tournament in this thread. When the team has been complete, the team captain should announce the name of his team which the players will agree on themselves.

All matches are to be played in the best of 3 sets format. No tie break in the deciding set.
Surface: plexicushion
Courts: Australian courts

Ranking points

Players will be awarded ranking points:

[50 points for each win in the group stage
bonus 50 points for each player qualifying for the quarter/semi-final if his team is undefeated in the group stage

100 points for a SF win
    200 points for a F win

bonus 75 points if the player is undefeated for the whole tournament
