Good idea.
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

Extension always delay a tournament. The earlier you grant them, the bigger the delay.

You've got 5 days to play a first round match. I think that's more than enough. Granted, most people work on those days, but c'mon, there's got to be some spare time left.
What are people in a QF or SF supposed to say? They have have only 2 or 3 days to schedule a match, which is WAY harder. Therefore, they occasionally get an extension.
If someone can only play on the weekend at reasonable times, then he should not sign up, IMO.

The example you're telling us is one of the most extreme. If your opponent can only play on one day for one hour, but you can offer him several days and more hours, the host knows who was more committed to schedule the match and react accordingly.

thanks man that is well explained. but, im the type of person that will make a sacrafice and wake up at 5am to play a match....not many others are willing to do that. but i understand everything you are saying.
