PC Top Spin 1 tour coming to its end

Postby SlicerITST » Wed, 11 Nov 2009 02:33

For years on end Top Spin 1 showed us what a great game it is. The tour has done awesome on the Xbox and the PC for years. It is the game that laid the foundation for a successful ITST and was an important milestone for future tennis games. A few years back we canceled the Xbox tour for TS1. The arrival of the Xbox 360 and TS2 slowly killed off that tour. Now its time to end the PC tour as well.

We have been having tournaments of 16 participants and less for a longer period of time now. It would be unfair from us to want anything more from a 5 year old game that is not actively sold anymore. But I had to wonder whether we could finish another season on this tour. And the answer is no. We might be able to stretch it out for about a month or 2 but nothing more. This years end of the year championship therefor is the only right time to end it. If there are enough people interested we could also arrange an ITST Open tournament so everyone that wants can play in this tour's last tournament.

Ive been an active participant of this tour for several years. So the cancellation of this tour does affect me personally. We have had our ups and downs on this tour. Ive met some people i wouldnt mind meeting in real life some day. Generally speaking im thinking back to this period in my life with great pleasure.

I would personally like to thank every host that has ever been involved in hosting on this tour. Without you guys it would not have been possible at all. And i also would like to thank every member that has ever participated on this tour with good intentions. It is for you guys that we spent so much time and effort into this tour. I hope you guys can look back on your time on ITST with joy as well. Thats all we ever aimed for.

Thanks Slicer, all host, all players for all years in TS1 PC.

ITST has been a great host for this tour, and we have had a nice stay at its home. To many TS PC tour players, good cheers and may our experiences here last a lifetime.

With greatest thanks,

P.S. The sim tour seems to be running stronger than all of the circuits together. Will there be some grand slam events at least for the sim tour next year?

This was expectable. But honestly, many thought already one or two years ago that that could have been the last year.

I doubt that any other tour will last 5 years as well. This record is worth a News entry :D

great game, great times playing with great players but everything must end sooner or later.
i remember my best years on tour and when doubles existed the fun i had playing those tnts, and in sim the many times i faced iroku on grand slams and clay events (he was federer[itst] back then, and after that oblivion). i remember a guy named squilari introduced me to the tour one time i entered gamespy by curiosity. i started playing the game with a 4550 player and it didn't last long specially in sim, i was very lost at first but the journey to learn how to master the game was a fun ride.
i hope a new tennis game can bring back all those feelings to the pc tour.

It's a pity, expectable yes, but a pity. I, myself was thinking too about leaving ITST next year, once I'm starting to have more and more to do and it's hard to play but still, as Elargento and Slicer said, there were great moments meeting new people as players and also as persons. It was very nice to be make part of this community and maybe next year we could play just the Slams as it was done this year on the Women's Circuit, who knows maybe there will be still some sign ups for those, at that time we'll see.

Yea. I also think we will have at least a full draw of 16 players for sim. Also, more sim players have been playing the reg tour.

Most definitely, we can call it quits for the WS circuit for sure. LOL. Slicer was very generous to allow us to play the slams, Toray Pan Pacific, and the end-of-year championship.

I had to do a bit of request to get at least eight players. I did not expect to have new players in the round-robin . . . but I will take it.

So maybe, we can do the same next year for the reg and sim circuits. That would be nice.

We should hold a funeral for TS1.

Kinda like how Rick Rubin held a funeral for the word 'def'

my point of view: THIS IS THE BEST TENNIS GAME OF THE HISTORY and i'm including all the consoles , PC's and old computers like Commodore Amiga, Texas Instruments, etc.

TOP SPIN 1 , the best tennis game ever developed.
