Hamachi...can it be used?

Postby P. van Diesel » Sat, 23 Jul 2005 01:51

Question guys, sorry I'm new on here!

I know the rules state "Gamepsy" must be used when hosting/playing in tournament matches, which I understand but my query is whether it would be breaking ITST rules if a match was connected via LAN with hamachi?

This is only because sometimes I have to use it and have never had any problems. I've been told it skips the cd check which is what problems I sometime encounter while playing with gamespy.

This is not all of the time though, as many times I've played with gamespy ok, its just that problem seems to occur more often than it should.

Basically, to cut to the point, if I was in a scheduled tournament match
and i simply couldnt connect with my opponent and we ended up using hamachi (if he agreed obviously) would that be a major problem?

From my point of view, if its a mean of connecting with no hassle and it means you can play your match I cant think of why it would be a problem.

But you guys know best, let me know your thoughts.

Thanks :)

Hello,

As usual, I concur! :)

However, I am having problems with Hamachi.

Refer to my previous post (just do a search for Hamachi, you will see mine in there somewhere). :)

XBOX Doubles and PC Doubles: Same concept when Hamachi used

Postby Q. Reese » Sat, 23 Jul 2005 03:56

Hello,

I also want to note that Abuigi has informed me that the Xbox Doubles has the same concept as Hamachi's PC Doubles, YOU HAVE TO HAVE A FRIEND HOME TO PLAY A DOUBLES RANKED TOURNAMENT.

If that is the case, WHY CAN'T WE START A DOUBLES TOUR FOR PC'ers. My brother and I are waiting (of course, we will use Hamachi [for Gamespy currently doesn't allow doubles to be played online]).

I hope the forum considers this,

Hamachi Doubles and recruit and CD Error players, Working?

Postby Q. Reese » Sat, 23 Jul 2005 10:33

Hello all,

I am on GameSpy right now, and there are some players who want to play PC doubles. This can only be possible if you only have another person at home to play. Abuigi liked this idea of Hamachi, and he is much in favor of creating a doubles tour for PC'ers.

Additionally, Hamachi can be used by members, or players, who receive the "Cannot read disc one error" (In large part due to the "Best of Atari" version of Top Spin).

Now, the problem is that, currently, Hamachi's server is too full:

A Hamachi network comes with a default capacity of 16
members. The restriction is in effect during the beta
testing. Please bear with us while we polish the system.

Thanks
(Hamachi's Server)

How can we get around this message? We need to figure this out as a team! :)

Any further information is much appreciated!

Thanks again my fellow mates,

Hello,

I found a way! Just create your on server! Are we closer for "Best of Atari" players to play on tour and a doubles ranked circuit for PCers (Josh and I are ready)?

I hope so!

But given that you need another person at home (or at least within walking distance), I'm not sure it's worth doing. My personal opinion is that the XBox doubles tourneys haven't been a huge success.

It's fresh to use keyboard+ gamepad at the same time, that requires real skill!

Hello,

If you have someone to play with that second game controller, we can use Hamachi to play doubles! If that is the case, ITST can then set up a doubles ranked circuit as the teams form (as Abuigi stated in the conference we had together).

This would be another excellent feature added to the International Top Spin Tour for PCers! :D

Hello again,

Believe it or not, it is working (keyboard or not). We are having much fun via Hamachi!!!! :)

 All we need is the ranked circuit to start.

You can't start a doubles tour with 5 teams, yeah? You need at the very least around 20, then we could somehow have a 16 teams draw. But I am not too satisfied about it.

cheers

Definately there's no reason to set up a doubles Tour now. There isn't by far enough interest for this yet. Also if I'm reading correctly then the system doesn't work flawlessly yet either..

Hello,

Well, in large part, it is because PCers are not adequately informed about it yet.

That is why you see doubles recruit personnel under my name. I figure if we can start Davis Cup without the full countries in the draw, we can start a doubles tour soon.

Thanks,

Hello,

Additionally, just give it some time. The PC's doubles recruit process is not even a day old; and, just to have 2 teams is good for one day! :D

I would be well appreciative if the members, who supports this new process, on tour would spread this information around.

Currently, I have 10 "Best of Atari" user or doubles players on my server (within less than a day).

I may have to ask one of you trust-worthy members to create another one (as I anticipate my server being filled up in the near future).

What I am thinking is to transfer my "Best of Atari" server members to another server (ACTUALLY, they can create their own server), and I will keep the doubles players on my server (Obviously, for creating the doubles tour, as I need players to inspire ITST to start one up for us).

Thanks for showing concern,
