Another AO patch has been released for PC/Xbox One/PS4 (UPDATE 1.27) ...

PATCH NOTES
• NEW Venue Creator – Create and play on multiple courts in one venue.
• NEW Indoor court creation – Create enclosed courts. (Usable in game after next patch.)
• NEW ball swerve – Improved physics including greater sideways movement.
• Ball and Game speed sliders now available for individual surfaces.
• Quick Match courts are now randomly selected.

Future patches will address assisted movement, animations and aiming, among other things.

I just got this game and really enjoy it overall.The shot aiming system is quite cool and refreshing. The online mode is a little troubling, however. I had a laggy first match which is not the end of the world. However the online system itself seems rather no frills as a whole, and lacking much of a personality or good system that matches players with skills and similar overall etc. Being able to pick any player to use in a ranked match felt a bit problematic to me.

I just got this game and really enjoy it overall.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate the following games:

AO Tennis - 7: I don't have as much experience with this game but it seems solid thus far. The movement is a lot smoother than TWT, and the shot aim style feels innovative. The creation options are a huge welcome bonus, save for probably a lack of some clothing Options. My biggest two issues here are, as I pointed out the lack of life in the Online Mode, and the CPU obsession with spamming drop shots lol. In general the drop shot seems a tad OP and could be toned down.


Tennis World Tour - 6: This title is definitely more rough around the edges. I'm not willing to bash it though. If the developer keeps up with updates there is definite potential. The creation system is weak and lacking here compared to AO, however the leveling and stat system with the coaches also seems superior in this case to me. My only problem is that the stats do not seem to be balanced properly. Serve, for instance seems to have little to no effect on how menacing the serve is. No online mode yet so will have to wait to see how they compare. Game play is not as smooth as AO, and the presentation is lagging behind, but the game itself still manages to be enjoyable overall.


Top Spin 4 - 8: Much more complete game as a whole here. While not the masterpiece that was TS3, Top Spin improved a lot of things over 3 and made the game play more accessible to the masses. You had everything a modern tennis gamer could need- great customization and creating, a super cool and unique leveling system, and a vibrant and competitive online World Tour atmosphere.

Have you played both AO and TWT, or judging the games based on gameplay vids?

I own both - i bought AO Tennis (the aussie version) so have been tracking the progress they have made with the game from the early stages. It has improved a lot but my problem is that it just feels too fast/arcadey - its more like a virtua tennis as opposed to a top spin, which is fine for those who like that type of game.

For me i prefer a simulation game and TWT, flaws and all, is that....or at least trying to be lol.

lol i think we have different definitions of arcadey. TWT is simulation, just needs more work done on it.

guys how you play this game? this autorun are making me crazy! i try to turn it off but the character dont run if you dont have some points in this assist, feels so grounded and laggy...

A bit late in the day by a year or so, but I have recently bought the AO game on the PS4...

I actually like it, from very early impressions it is stronger than TS4 (appreciating game tech has come on as it should in last 10 years). Aside from trying to compare it to other tennis games I think it has a lot going for it and I would entertain being involved in a trial tour. If help is needed to facilitate admin around it I would consider also.
