Updated draw = https://challonge.com/daviscup2018.

Update 21 June
- After one week of pause, the tournament keeps going. UK beat 3-1 the Germans and USA qualified for the Grand final thanks to a great victory from Federer2 in the doubles against Klizan.
- This week's match : Portugal vs UK & South America vs Italy!

Update 7 June

- Final of the winner's bracket USA vs CZ/SK.
An interesting match between Pidzi (6-0), Fez (3-1) and the two best doubles players of the competition so far : Klizan (3-0) & Federer2 (2-0).

- Meanwhile UK qualified for the next round of the Loser's Bracket. They might pass through the next round without playing if the German team doesn't answer quickly.

- Spain vs France is still pending ; the winning team might play South America in the next round if they express an interest for the match.

Update 3 June

- Loser's bracket matches have been set up.
- Italy & Turkey are sent into the loser's bracket due to their inability to arrange their respective matches.
- USA is qualified for the Winner's Bracket final.

Update 23 May 2018

- The first rounds have been set up fastly to see which teams are available.
Instead of asking for a virtual commitment, players have to show an actual commitment, so that inactive, unavailable or unmotivated nations get eliminated early. It's a weekly skimming process based on participation.

- Great match between Czechoslovakia and UK. The difference has been made by Klizan in doubles. Czech won 3-2.

- France vs USA : both teams submitted their lineups. Still waiting for results to make a final decision about that.

- Turkey is qualified for the next round. Poland's captain Don is forfait for Davis Cup.

- Spain vs Croatia : Eloymm, TesterAVI, Edinhjo expressed an explicit interest for the competition before the match... but no player publicly submitted their lineups. I decided to give Spain a second chance for various reasons (activity on tour, discord etc).

- Round 2 matches have been set up, please check up your respective match threads and provide your lineups by Friday 25 May.

Tournament Agenda
Official draw = Thursday 17 may.
R16 Winner bracket = 18-21 may.
Quarter finals winner bracket & Round 1 loser’s bracket = 25-29 may.
Semi finals winner bracket & Round 2 round loser’s bracket = 2-6 June.
Final winner bracket & Round 3 loser’s bracket = 8-12 June.
Round 4 Losers’ bracket = 15-19 June.
Round 5 Loser’s bracket = 18-23 June.
Grand Final = 22-26 June or 29 June to 2 July.

Matches must be played between Friday and Monday. No deadline extension possible.
Don’t complain about the rhythm : ATP players play each week too.
If you’re not available, not motivated to play etc during one of these weekends, just let someone else play and keep in mind that it’s just as in the real Davis cup.
Sometimes the top ATP players don’t play it because of their lack of motivation, injuries… Your teammates could substitute you and if you’ve got no teammates… Well it’s your fault, just find someone and build a team!

Rules & Organization
- 2 players are at least required to play a round.
- Surface choice : the team with the lowest average ranking choose the court.
- Order of the matches as in Davis Cup : 2 singles -> then a double -> then 2 singles (in 5 sets).

- Characters selection rule : each country must pick their national players in the ITST roster. e.g French must select Gasquet, Tsonga etc ; Italians have to pick Fognini, Seppi.
It makes the competition more tactical, with more variety in characters and potentially surprising results with the surfaces choices.

- The official lineup must be provided by Friday at worst on the thread of the match. If no lineup has been provided, it’s a WO for the other team.
- If both teams fail to list a lineup, it’s a no match.
- If the lineups are listed on time, but some scores have not been reported on forum by Monday, decisions will be taken based on the public forum discussions. I repeat : NO DEADLINE EXTENSION.

- In game please write the name of your match « Nation Cup, Italia vs Portugal » in the lobby, so people could follow the live score. If possible stream the match on Twitch ?

- Coaching is allowed with shared screen, twitch etc.

Match Scheduling
- A topic for each match must be opened for each round.
- Every Friday at worst, the lineups must be listed.
- Arrange the matches on the public thread so everyone could see who deserves a WO if players don’t show up.
- Captains have been proposed for each countries based on their commitment & investment on the site throughout the last seasons.

Nations invited
The lineups & captains listed below are just given for information. Each team can invite or bring new players anytime they want for their matches.

1) Italy : Kenos & The Boss Inseedious, Pigrosofo, Karalis1, Diego95…
2) Portugal : Pablo Hernandez & Filas VinD, AlexJasmins, Mash….
3) Czechoslovakia : Pidzi Grino_CZ, Klizan, Davidpavlik, John Maler….
4) South America : Juani & MichaelD Y_Maybank….
5) USA : Leonmonstroso Fez, Federer2, BcX86…
6) France : Henrijames Andry3000, Hummdarr, Dreddy, Lolo2b, Rp62, Klizano…
7) Germany : VMoe Gobi84, RonnieTheRocket, Weiz, Ingomania, Jaws…
8. Poland : Don Gumoil, Kisiuwin…
9) UK : TheRetroPrime, Cuevas, Itzaidanz…
10) Croatia Edihnjo, Barbarian + Serbian players (Mairon, Steff, Gerilac)…
11) Spain Eloymm, TesterAVI...

Decisions & Nations Cup Staff
The tournament is fully decentralized : that means it is managed by the community itself and the captains. They must create the threads of their matches, decide who can choose the court surface, upload the score in the official draw etc.
e.g : If the opposite team is inactive, don't answer you on the public thread for the upcoming match, you can consider you get a WO and start the thread for your next round.

If a decision is not obvious, ITST Staff or other members opinions could be asked to decide upon certain situations.

This is the topic for rules and draw. You have a topic for each match to post your lineup & surface.

Imo all this LB should be discarded and only original WB used as classic dc draw. LB draw is already a huge fail and i honestly also have no desire to play another dc mstch against the same team. So final in WB between usa and czsk should be considered as definitive final.

Have to agree with this, the loser bracket could be a fun consolation event, but the winner should just be the winner of the main draw event.
Biggest wins: Singles:DC:def. mohd954 (10) 7-6(4) 7-6(9), RG:def.pigrosofo (15) 4-6 6-4 6-3 7-6(7)
Doubles #1! 8-5-16
Big doubles titles: FEDERER2 slam 2016 RG - 2017 AO

I understand your feelings and you're totally free to participate or not each week! However :

1) The rules remain the same until the end of the tournament.
2) Germany & UK have played their match in the loser's bracket.
3) Italy weren't able to play one week, they deserve a second chance.
4) Playing a second time a similar team is a whole new story : they will choose a different surface than you did, they can change their characters, practice more, try something else.
5) New players get active or unactive each week. USA could make play Nutmegdinosaur for instance who's back.

The next Davis Cup we will try a groupstage draw, I think it can be fun too.
