Lol Coolhand

The only thing similar (vaguely) to that was when I used to hit against the wall at my rec center. There were a bunch of thugs playing handball, but when they saw me slugging the ball next to them they left lol

BTW!! My training started to day, and I'm hitting the ball MUCH better than in my youtube video. I'll either record tomorrow's session or the day after. My footwork was great in the first hour or so. But I got tired as time wound down (last 45 minutes I was spent...).

Tomorrow I'll work on keeping up my footwork, taking small steps, being slightly more consistent.

MY FOREHAND LOOKS LIKE FLORIAN MAYER'S!!!

Al, look at Mayer's forehand here (second half of the video): http://www.atpworldtour.com/Tennis/Media/Videos/2011/02/Dubai-2011-Thursday-Day-Highlights.aspx

then check mine out from my last vid: http://www.youtube.com/jenerationj#p/u/4/ZRg214M8jJo

Kinda similar no? Only thing is Mayer makes a HUGE circle with his takeback. Also, I'm editing my latest practice session for highlights.

What kinda strings do you use??

If you're not using Luxilon or something similar you need to try it. The difference is crazy.

I'm using the factory strings in that video. Actually in my yonex rackets I have Gamma Zo-Twist black mains and Technifibre Polyspin crosses. My shots are better in the second video, but my consistency isn't there.

I like the feel of the combo I have currently in my Yonex's, but I want to demo the new Wilson rackets soon.

Yeah Sampras is kind of a dork. Kinda old-fashioned for the sake of being old-fashioned.

Luxilons aren't gonna make a crappy player a good player but if you have decent strokes, you're gonna notice some serious 'hop' to your groundstrokes that wasn't there before.

I think he had a point though, players who hit with a lot of spin anyway would maybe get 15% more revolutions with lexilon, a nice difference. I might sound like a dork too :D but i think in the near future the ATP should start thinking about a upper limit on racket technology. The days will be here before long where 10,000 rpm on a forehand is achievable

JJ_DUBZ_87 wrote:Jay no worries... playing on my college team IS my priority. I want to finish my program at Stony Brook and play there. Or if I can transfer to another good Tennis college (preferably DI but I'll settle for DII if I get enough financial aid and stuff) I'd play there.

I've spoken to coaches and teaching pro's who have traveled on the futures circuit and I know a lot more about what it takes. But yeah I have my priorities lined up nicely. I'm not gonna try to play a futures tournament tomorrow  I'm gonna train and improve and who knows in a year from now my level should be good enough to play a Futures. Like I said, I just want to play ONE futures tourney. Going full on pro right now doesn't look realistic, but when my training kicks in by the end of the summer or by the end of this year my game's gonna look completely different than the way it looks now, and I can make a realistic decision as to how many I want to play.

That's another reason why I want to upload another video soon to show my progression. That other video had MONTHS of rust caked on it lol.

But yeah I still want to play one or two futures events... and trust me I know how hard it's gonna be, but leave it up to me to get there.

@KluddKalle - That's awesome!! And you're in two countries?!? lol  kind of a big deal... I'm very impressed.

Ive played a few futures events myself. I believe if you have the drive,head/heart and some bit of talent then hacking it on the futures tour is viable. Btw im 25 6'6 and somewhere above a 5.5/6.0...but a major mental midget when it comes to tournaments/matches.

6'6"! UGH I wish I had that height lol. I'm 5'9" (and that's in flipflops...). I'm still lookin to play n improve. Got a ways to go though.

Sidebar: I'm switching to the Dunlop Aerogel 4D 300 pretty soon. Looking for a racket that "feels like an extension of my hand..." I miss that feeling.

I have a Wilson Blx six one lite. It's quite new and the weather has been poor and I have a back injury so not played much but I like it.

Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

[quote="JJ_DUBZ_87"]Oooh since u put it that way lol... I guess there isn't a reason to upload. I just do it for fun (the uploading), and I'm looking into playing at a school pretty soon so some vids of my progression wouldn't hurt. I'm 23 (not quite a kid anymore ) but I'm working out a lot and trying to keep my body in the best shape it can be so I can be competitive wherever I decide to take my game (college, USTA Tourneys, or even a ladder or league somewhere...).

I really love the game and I'm tryin my best to get better at it, play some lower level tourneys and if my results are good enough I'll keep moving up difficulties. My ultimate goal is to play at least 1 Futures tournament though, but I have to train my BUTT off to make it even a remote reality. College tennis is looking like the way to go so I can finish my degree and enjoy some competitive team play there.

keep on man but its a hard way believe me. what is your exceptional strength, I mean what distinguishes you from the many good players all over the world. What tell your coaches. Did they think you can made it?
because a future tournament is a big deal after futures you play challengers a thats the time you become a pro.and believe me if you are a pro its a hard time also don't think its a walkthrough :D
