Volkl Cyclone 17 String (1.25) String

Strung at 53/50. Easy to string, "good" coil memory (lack thereof). Slippery string that shaped as well.

Similar string to Wilson Spin Cycle, it is a soft poly, good pocketing, nice power and spin. Would be great for someone who wants to try a full-bed poly setup. The strings are shaped and slippery at the same time. The shape is not sharp, it is more rounded. Has more spin and power then Spin Cycle, but is a bit firmer as well with a bit less dwelling time, the ball seems to stay less time on the string bed.

I liked the spin in this one. It is not as drastic as with Tour Bite or Spiky Shark, but it blends well with the power level of the string, giving you confidence to swing out. If you typically play with a lot of spin, I would look elsewhere, but if you play with moderate spin and like to flatten out your shots - this string will please you.

Not so great in the durability department though. Within 2 and a half hours of hitting, I felt the string go through a few phases and at the end of the session it "settled", but not in the right place for me. It lost a bit of the pop and feel. It,s tough to gauge with a soft poly when it dies, as you don't have that "crisp" feeling that you get with a stiffer string.

Feel - 7/10
Control - 6/10
Power - 7/10
Spin - 8/10
Durability - 5/10

It not an expensive poly, but offers a good performance the first few hours. Durability will vary based on your level, but it certainly is worth a try, it is way cheaper then the more popular Luxilons; gives a similar performance and durability.
Level 13 Edberg and counting...
