AUSSIE FINAL: Tsonga or Djokovic?

Postby Cro Morgan » Fri, 25 Jan 2008 12:55

If Tsonga plays as he did against Nadal, he'll win in straight sets. Since he likely won't (is that even possible?) I'll take Djokovic in four.

TSONGA le MAGNIFIQUE

Postby AMAZING ZIZOU » Fri, 25 Jan 2008 13:17

JO-WILL TSONGA of course. Not because i 'd like him to win but because he can win.
It's so rare to see nowadays a french player beiing able to win an extremly important match!! But that guy is not made from the same wood than the others, he won't get traumatise from the presssure of the event like everyone seem to think.....

The only thing we can be sure about is the amazing level of tennis we'll have in that final. Set your alarm clock or you'll regret it.

Cheers

PS : here's the future french davis cup team : GASQUET, TSONGA & LLODRA/CLEMENT. Huuuuum smells pretty good, beware USA, here we come!!!!

I think the pressure of the moment will trump Tsonga's game - maybe not as much as if he were playing Federer, but still, the glare of that Grand Slam final spotlight is pretty damn hot.

i dont think tsonga could realize it. ok he seems very relaxed on the court, but come on, you can say what you want.... a grand slam final is always a completely different situation. maybe you plan to give your best, but then, if you enter the court, it's different....maybe you get paralysed and for any reason you cannot show your real potential. that's the curse of many players who already played a grand slam final. of course there are exceptions.

but in this case, i think tsonga won't be able to repeat such an incredible performance he showed vs nadal.
i think he will do some more unforced errors, even on his volley game. i think this time, his volleys will get stuck on the net, or go out.

so i vote for djokovic in 3 straight sets. he already knows the situation.

I would like to see Tsonga winning as I like his attitude, his game and as he is an unseeded player. If Guga did, maybe this guy can win his first ATP final too on a grandslam. Of course Djokovic has much agressive game than Nadal. Nadal is too defensive not as Djokovic. I dare to say Tsonga in 4 close sets.

i think a four or five sets

even the tsonga trainer said today tsonga could never do again what he did against the lion nadal, because he said it was a really totally perfect tennis, he realised absolultly 100% of what he tried.

djoko has the experience of final slam, and he as the power, the confident (confiance in english how do we say lol), yes, he has the trust, to have killed federer, he's on the way

i think djoko has an advantage, but not decisiv, tsonga too has a trust in him.

a very good match in four five sets :) very well, very good for tennis :)

let's hope all the year will be like that with these guys:

federer, nadal, djokovic, tsonga and a serious nalbandian
and behind the others very good like baghdatis, hewitt, i hope gasquet, gonzalez.

nadal is still the great favorite for the next slam, roland, and if he wins again, which is probably, federer will be forced to win wimbledon to stay at the top, and not seeing his career get down, but, he will again have to beat at wimbledon the multi finalist nadal, and after all, now, the tsonga man who is i think much better again in wimbledon than in australia

djoko and even monfils could win wimbledon too

and, as once said, we french maybe have the best davis cup team 8)

be afraid, americans, australians, russians and sweden ;) (but now spanish too with nadal ferrero ferrer and even moya or terrible)

a great year men !!!!!!!!!!

I would like Tsonga to win it. This is the come back kid from around the block. :)

Lol, Monfils????????? I though that guy was already dead. Where is he? It's almost 1 year and 2 months he doesn't do anything, he barely appears.

Good point. This guy never wowed me though. He is extremely fast. However, to me, that is about it. :) I like Tsonga and Gasquet much better than Monfil.

He could be another past-Tsonga victim, injuries perhaps?

I'm afraid we'll get in front of this situation although i hope Tsonga could repeat a performance similar to the semifinal...
Djoko is able to elevate his level of playing at the right time, on the big points, he's incredibly chilly when the situation is risky.
I think that, under this point of view, he's already better than Federer...

Djokovic is going to win. He had the harder draw to get through, played better quality opponents and matches. Plus he has the experience, and he deserves it...esp. after beating Fed...well stomping Fed!
