US Open Men 2007... the winner?

Postby NickZ3535 » Tue, 28 Aug 2007 22:48

Just wanted to see if anybody thinks that anyone other than Fed can take the title.

I think Rafa is too messed up injury-wise to go the whole way, but I am impressed with how Hewitt has been hitting the ball. Djokovic is waiting to break through as well.

James Blake has had a good summer as well, but his lack of wins in 5 set matches turns me off.

My top 3 are Djokovic, Federer, and Isner (yes I think he could seriously have a dream run here and win it based on his serve alone). I voted for Djokovic.

Watching Lleyton Today not facing a break point on serve and looking all round Hewitt of old im tipping him to do it. Alternatives being Federer and Djokovic

definitely slicer.
his short and deap slice is a killer in any way. who should beat him? maybe djoko?....no way, still too less appereance opposed to such a tennis guru like slicer is.
maybe rafa?.... no way, he can't manage deap slices at all.
maybe the fedexpress?.... yes he could beat him, but i'm sure slicer will find a way to upset fed in the warm up with several "rafa nadal" imitations. so fed will stranding coz of his mental "rafa" weakness

If its a normal lineup in the final i wont bother. Sick of Federer Nadal finals but im quite sure Rafa wont make it past the quarters so thats good news.

The New York crowd doesn't suit Nadal's obsessive compulsive disorder. Only Djokovic and Roddick have a chance to beat Federer. I don't think he'll do it, but next to Federer I'd pick Roddick.

wait and see. i've already spoken with oblivion about hewitt, and that i'm very curios about his current performance.
just to say, his last match vs fed was one of the best i've seen a looooooong time by hewitt.

Lleyton Hewitt is playing in pretty good form. I think that he just have to adjust his game with his marriage life. Other than that, we can give him some time. He will up his ranking. Hopefully . . . :)

Either Federer or Hewitt. I can't see Djokovic beating the top players one after the other at the US Open (this year).

I voted for Djoko just because i feel like he is the only player who really has a chance of beating Federer in the US open. Djoko just beat Fed on hard court so now he should come into the match knowing that he can do it if he ends up playing Fed in the final.

this is totally bullshit man. i really hate such inexpertly statements.
i try to correct it.
hewitt was number 1 in the world coz of his irrepressibly will and his amazing foot work, so he often made his points by unforced errors of his opponents. but his biggest weakness is still that he doesn't have a killer-hit. so he got more and more problems vs players with a safety powerfull game. he couldn't wait for the unforced error anymore. so he didn't win big tnt's anymore. additionally he had problems with kim.
ok but now, hewitt has some really strong hits in petto and his private situation couldn't be better. and you can see it. hewitt plays a really strong year 2007 in my eyes. his last match vs roger was close and his clay match vs nadal in hamburg was very close too.
believe me, hewitt is on his way back to his old winning ways. maybe he cannot win the us open, but he can reach the semis for sure.
