Djokovic vs Nadal

Postby Corbon » Wed, 05 Jun 2013 17:42

Who's going to win and why?

Cast my vote. Nole looked better overall in the tournament and also beat Nadal convincingly at Monte Carlo. Nadal won't be able to exploit a wing like he did today.

I am also very impressed by Nole's serve, he hits harder and his placement is better than last year. Monster holds at the AO and also against Haas.

Unfortunately their match up on clay has been based on weather the last few times. Hot dry favors nadal, muggy cooler favors Djokivic. The weather really messes with how the ball bounces. Last years French was decided by whether the referee wanted them to keep playing in light rain, they stopped, and the next day was hot and dry so nadal won. had they kept playing djokivic would have won.

What's the forecast for Paris on Friday?

I wish Nole would win but unfortunately i don't find him very strong mentally since the AO. Maybe the fact that it's Nadal and a SF of RG will make him reach his highest focus...

So my vote will go for Nadal.

Sunny all day - 24 degrees Brushed, so it will favour Nadal.

I still think Djok will come out on top though. Nadal clearly doesn't enjoy the match up because Nole is one of the few who can deal with the ball at more or less any height.

Monte Carlo was some of the best tennis he's ever played though, especially in the first set, so he'll have to really turn up! I would definitely love to see him complete his grand slam!

It's basically the final though, because as well as Tsonga has been playing, I don't see him beating Nole, and Ferrer has no hope.

If Nadal is at his best, he'll win. No sane person would say otherwise. 8)

If Nadal is at his best and Nole is at his best, then it's certainly not a given that Nadal will win.

Nole in 3 sets however is indeed insane!

Rafa in 4, i'll give him some credit, the Philippe Chatrier is like Rafa's garden

Considering Nadal's record at Roland Garros is 978-1 (978-0 when at his best) then yes, it is a given.

If Gulbis would be in the final - he would win Rafa. NOW THAT'S A GIVEN!

This match will become the new reference in tennis in terms of intensity. At Monaco, the conditions were cold in the final, that didn't advantage Nadal at all.

It's amusing that anyone would consider Gulbis to have a better chance against anybody, than Novak.

Amusing and absurd!
