Gulbis: "The Top 4 are Boring..."

Postby djarvik » Wed, 29 May 2013 23:06

It is in French, but translate it, it is easy to understand.

Basically, What Ernests says is that the current Top 4 we have are a boring bunch. In the interviews and overall. He also talks about the bureaucracy in today's tennis and how the lower ranked/younger players are struggling to survive and the top don't really care.

Putting Fanatism aside, would you agree or disagree with him?

Enjoyable English Version:

On a sidenote. He's speaking the truth. I don't know who he's referring to, but once I started listening to the interviews of Djokovic and Federer it quickly became boring. They just repeat the same thing for years like it didn't matter to them.
Now Nadal has some sweet accent to his words, so he passes for me. Don't know how other top 10 speaks.

Well the big 4 isn't boring on court and that's what matters to me (except Murray probably). But it would be cool to see a very big mouth reaching top 4 and making enemies and keeping playing at the same level ^^

BTW - The English "translation" is missing a very good paragraph, the last one. Kinda lame

That was up about about 2 hours ago as of this writing. So I'd guess quick journalism sacrifices some details?

I would not call a "dig" at organization not a detail. It is just censorship from ATP side.

Here is a rough translation:

Code: Select all
"Ernests Gulbis, World 40th also took the opportunity to tackle the system that governs the professional tennis," overly bureaucratic "he said. " It would have the top players agree to move forward. But these tops are quite happy that the young are treated like crap and they do not have enough money to pay for good coaches. "

Well, you could even be right about that, but how can you define Tsonga and Haas "new blood"? :?

1) New blood is needed
2) i rather watch Haas vs Tsonga than Nadal vs Federer and
3) that guys is a symptom of things going wrong

The fact that i'd rather watch Haas vs Tsonga than Federer vs Rafa ( 2 of the best player of all time) means that we need "new blood" , I don't say Haas and Tsonga are the "new blood" :?: :D

I think he was not referring to age of the blood cells, but rather to them being "new" at the top. :)
