Im watching mayer v wawrinka and they where talking about scrapping the net call rule. Jyst like usa college. Is this the let rule?
Also is this a good idea? How has it been going down in usa college?
Im,all up for tweaking the sport with little rule changes here and there and I think this 1 is good.
Also 10-15 secs between points would be good.
Thoughts?

McEnroe has been saying they should gdt rid of both the let service rule AND give players only one toss. I think they're both good ideas.

I'd prefer to have the "No Let Service" rule in doubles and not bring it into singles. I think that's a big disadvantage on the singles side. The one toss rule would be interesting, but I'd be afraid of the service games becoming one-dimensional with second-serve-esque serves being hit all the time.

Both are terrible ideas IMO. I don't understand the logic behind allowing let services....can you imagine if a match was won on a let serve 'drop shot'??

Even better imagine Isner/Mahut ending on a let service. SOMEBODY would have literally got murdered if that had happened.

I don't see how it's any worse than a normal let on match point. And most of the time a let serve would be an advantage for the returner. Only those that just barely make it over would be annoying, but I think it would add an exciting random element, as well as speeding up matches a little bit.

lol with a normal let on match point, you virtually reset everything.

With the let serve in play on match point it's a lose/win situation. One player's gonna end up with the "short end of the stick" - a floating let that just bounces in and is bashed by the returner for a winner, or a let that dribbles over the net and counts as an ace?!? or maybe a "let-winner"

I have to side with Jay on this one.

Er, I meant "I don't see how it's any worse than a normal let cord winner on match point." As in during a rally, after the serve is in play.
I guess I should have made that clearer.

true. And tbh a lot of people didn't think the 10-point tie-break in doubles final sets was a good idea but it took well.

Since the rule would be universal in singles, even on match points the net rule would have to be upheld, and I've played at my school with this rule and to be honest nobody really hits lets that often to begin with.

In terms of the one serve only rule, my coach made me play a set with only second serves, and I wound up winning... no harm there lol 8)
