Andre Agassi - Hall Of Fame

Postby lincolnshirelad » Sun, 10 Jul 2011 22:06

Andre Agassi has been inducted into the international Tennis Hall Of Fame..

Whats your thoughts???

Read alot of comments on Eurosport that people thought it was a disgrace as he admitted to using drugs during his career..

Personally i dont think that matters he deserves to be recognised hes a legend!

Absolutely he is a legend, maybe he is tainted in some way but his achievements and contribution to the sport far far outweigh it.

I liked his speech a lot aswell, he said himself he fell in love with tennis much too late.

Whoever thinks recreational drugs improve performance is on drugs.
Whoever thinks Adre does not deserve to be in TENNIS hall of fame is on drugs too.

Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

Oops, I didn't read that properly and voted no (i.e. no it's not a disgrace). I struggle with these simple things.

I think that whatever problem people might have with him stems from them resenting him wasting a gift that most other players can only dream of having... he didn't have any responsibility to oblige them though and i just see it as a shame for himself that he didn't achieve as much as he could have. Top player regardless and at his best not many from that hall of fame could touch him...

I also think that once Federer kicks his heroin addiction he'll dominate the game once again... :P

The drug thing is so minor.

1st of all if he really had a major problem he would not even have been able to keep up a charade of 'being a pro tennis player'.

2nd it has nothing to do with his playing and like djarvik said, could not improve his performance in any way. In fact it's pretty obvious it was the other way around; he was playing Challengers at the time that he was 'on meth'.

It would be a travesty if he weren't inducted into the hall of fame! He's one of the all time greats.

no one is perfect but till this day he remains the only man to win the super slam DC,YEC, and all four majors on top of that he was the best returner ever ,best ball striker and a showman. and the open era leader for hard court titles for a few more months till fed knocks him fed is one title behind on 44. Agassi has taken his hard earned place in the hall of fame.

I'd also say he is one of the few players to transcend tennis, especially now through his philanthropy. He is a "real" human being and I think that is why he became so popular.

Are there any major ommissions from the hall of fame?
