Slow time of the year for tennis news, so here you go:

Nadal's mother never tried to create superstar

Rafael Nadal's mother, Ana Maria Parera, says in a TV interview that her son has always been humble and has never taken the wrong road.

"He has never been a very naughty boy, has not changed in character, but in tournaments he still has a stronger character," she said. "He’s always been a loving child."

Parera, who is divorced from Nadal’s father, Sebastian, said that they never tried to create a football or tennis player out of their son and let him make his own decisions.

"It would have been a mistake from the educational point of view," she said. "Children should enjoy studying and enjoy playing. You can not set objectives. Others want to see children as future superstars. We never really considered this."

Parera added that her son is a good cook, but because he’s so used to being in hotels, he’s "very messy. I try to change that but I cannot. His sister sometimes says, 'Okay, if you want to cook, you have to do the dishes, too.'"—Matthew Cronin

Sounds like a good family he comes from, you can tell Nadal got his class from his upbringing. I think he proves you do not need to be arrogant or cocky in order to be a winner.
