I think knowing Blake and the fact that the guy was a top 10 resident for some time, while Hasse never got higher then 56 and spend there literally few weeks, speding most of his career outside top 150.....
...I say its a fair assesment that Blake was the favorite to win.

His decline happened prior to his injury and/or surgery.
