Australian Open Draw Question

Postby DentPetz92 » Mon, 11 Jan 2010 03:36

What will the direct acceptance cutoff for the tournament be? If I remember correctly there are 16 qualifiers, but how many WCs are there? Thanks.

There's 8 wildcards...

1- agreement with French Open
1- agreement with US Open
1- winner of a junior austrialian tournament
1- to top Asian player
4- picked by the tournament.

According to this, as of June 9, 2009, the direct cut-off is 250th:

250th is for LTA's wide card cut-off.
For Grand Slams, the direct acceptance cut-off is usually around 110-120th, depends on how many players are out due to injury.

You are sure about that? The article noted the ranking cut-off for Wimbledon. :)

I will trust your word though. What is the LTA (London Tennis Association)?

The cut off must be around 110, there are only 128 places in the draw
XBOX360 MSS - 2 Titles
PS3 MS - 2 Titles

OMG...
Direct acceptance cut-off is not the same as wide card cut-off...

Okay. Thanks. So, it is based on Wimbledon's discretion for its tournament. I got it. Thanks again.
