TODAY START WTA MASTER.
WHO WILL BE THE WINNER?
THESE ARE THE GROUPS:

GROUP A
safina
jankovic
azarenka
wozniacki

GROUP B
williams s.
williams v.
dementieva
kuznetsova

I think they are not balanced.
group b has the strongest players...
HOPE ELENA WILL WIN...but don't think so...
I think the final will be serena-azarenka.SERENA win!

The groups are definately lobsided and of course we cannot be sure of everyones fitness and form coming in but for the finals I'd maybe go for Serena and Dementieva.

i picked wozniacki, and she beat azarenka today!

also safina retires from a match with a lower back injury, she will decide later if she will retire from the tournament

I do not think that Wozniacki has the power to defeat the Williams' sisters (maybe Venus but not Serena).

It is a good sign that she took down Azarenka though. :D

Azarenka just couldnt put her away in the 3rd so credit to the Dane for her stickability. I did feel sorry for Safina though, but I doubt she'll be back meaning Zvonareva could make the SF if she wins her 2 matches.

LOL. She is only good because of the defense she has. She is like the "wall" who is very mentally strong.

Would you say that she is this way?

Then again, there should be a reserved player to take her spot? Right?

Yes Zvonareva is the 1st reserve

Yes and no I would not consider her to be an amazing mover but she reads the game well and mentally stays in the moment. That said I'm a bit sceptical as to whether she will push on next year but we will see.

Good read fedfan. I agree with you. Thanks for confirming the reserve player concept too.

Zvonareva is very good. She has not peaked too much because of her injuries and mental focus. Correct? I watched her play on YouTube, and I was wowed at the game she brought on court! :D

Mentally she's fragile and she is struggling with injury. BTW great comeback by Dementieva yesterday, I'd like to see her win a major next year. Serena and V in a final set, I'm not too sure about the stamina of Venus nowadays though.

Yes. Venus is very unpredictable. She did do well at the last end-of-year championships! So, you never know with her. :)

Serena saved a match point and won a final set breaker, say what you want about her but she is a fierce competitor.
