...it is not "How on Earth did Gaudio win Roland Garros?" :? ...but I'm going to start to play tennis in the next month probably, so I realized I had to make a decision, 1 handed backhand or 2 handed backhand.
The other day I was playing with a friend in a paddle court with some crappy paddles too, and I tried both the 2hb and the 1hb. I realized that with the 1hb I had no control over it but I could hit with a lot of power, instead with the 2hb I managed to get a lot of topspin, angle, a lot of control, but no so much power yet...what do you recommend me, and what do you prefer?? Please Vote!

are you sure you are not confusing 1BH and 2BH.

You described perfectly the advantages of both, you just reversed them!

But, if that is how you feel, then definitely go with 2BH. Power will come with proper coaching, technique and practice.

I played tennis from 6 years old to 12 years old.

At that time they told me to use a single handed cause only girls used a double hander :-) As they lack power.

Are you calling my Safin a girl!?

But you are right, I was told the same thing. I was still coached the Serve and Volley game a lot, when I was starting out. I was told that is the way to go! So I am old school, and so you are Anil

I use a single handed backhand(not very well) cause it feels more natural to me.

When i hit a double handed backhand it looks like a golfswing and the ball just goes up  :D

lol  that is what seemed preety weird to me too, so what you say about the 2hb (that I'll be able to get power with practice) I think of the 1hb, maybe I'll be able to get control with some practice..

I feel I get a LOT of control with a 2 handed BH, even more than I have with my forehand, so it all depends on the person.

well actually having more control with the 2hb is more common, but what i am sure of, is that with practice a 1hb can generate more power than a 2hb, it acts like a whip..

Single Handed gets my vote, as you can produce more variety of shots (i.e. natural slice), also longer reach.

But I am biase though as I use a single hander :) I did try to learn the Double Handed backhand, but couldn't get any power... and at the time I could just about hit a top spin backhand (1h) so stuck with that instead

ONe thing is that in TS2 I started with a single hander but The double hander gave my more power so I stayed with that. In TS3 I started with a single hander but after a while switched again to a double. But as single handed is more natural to me i went back . I got often overpowered by double handers but now I am so used to it again that I can beat double handers. Cause once mastered you can do a bit more with a single hander.

So single takes more pratice but once mastered it's awesome

Me and my bro use two-handed backhand, which is btw my best shot.

I use the 2-hander. My brother uses the 1-hander. I believe that you can hit easily with power with the 2-hander; yet, the angles in the boxes . . . well, you have to work harder to get them.

With the one hander, I noticed that my brother and many players seem to hit less power off of it. However, the angles are ridiculously better for them to hit!!

Over all, if you want a solid backhand off the back, like right now, you should practice the two-hander!!

I prefer using the 2 handed backhand. I find that it gives me sufficient power and it feels better for me. Im only a beginner though, but i have tries both and went with the two hand.

i started playing tennis at 18, my techer advised one handed because it gives more control and at that age you don't have the power issue. moreover, you can hide better your shots for example if you are gonna hit a slice or top spin bh.

ps: gaudio wopn rg simply because he is was the best player in the world during that week and also because coria is a pussy.
