You mean that time he lost a set to him in 13 mins? Yeah, definitely figured out.

EDIT: Wait, you talking of Del Potro or Simon?

I haven't seen anyone lose faster, impressive stuff if you ask me...

Anybody see the double's final??

Melzer's partner got CLEARLY hit by a volley, in the leg, and DID NOT CONFESS TO IT!!!!

To add insult to injury HIS LEG HIT A CLEAN WINNER

Total scumbag move in my opinion, I think he should have fessed up, he couldn't get out of the way of the ball and therefore loses the point. MAN if I were the other guys I would have freaking choked him out right there on the court

Yeah it reminded me of that...except Gonzo's is slightly more excusable because that just hit his racquet.

This ball smacked him right on the calf muscle and literally bounced off for a 'drop shot' winner. The ump was on the other side and couldn't see if it hit the racquet or his leg, but they showed a replay and it's 1,000,000% clear it hit his leg.

Who was his partner? Haider-Maurer or someone?

Edit: thought you were talking about DC. Was it Petzchner then?

always had big trouble to beat him here on this surface in the past. It's not an exception now, especially because he's doing better than ever. But you know what? I go back home knowing that i am on the way. You know, i like to fight, i want to enjoy this battle against him. Six straight losses, for sure that's painful, but i'm going to work every day until that changes. So i have a goal, easy goal for me now. It's going to be tough to change the situation, but the goal is easy to see. To have a goal always you know how to work every day. Rafael Nadal , USA Open 2011.

Gracious losers, and winners are, sadly, rare in professional sports. Rafael Nadal's performance Monday night, after losing this year's United States Open, was the very essence of graciousness and a reminder of what good sportsmanship really means.

Is Roger using a different grip in these two videos?
Kind of hard to tell because of the camera angles.

I'll tell you something, i use, like him, an eastern grip, it's true that some times, well actually many times, i find myself hitting with an eastern to a semi-western grip, and that's completely normal during a rally, because my hand slips from an eastern to a kinda semi-western, so i guess that's what happens to him as well, that's why, if you surf the net, you will find videos, pictures showing eastern and semi-wersten grips. It's not something static, at least for me.
That's why if you ask me which is my grip, i will tell you eastern...but that's not really true....
That doesn't happen vice versa btw, somebody using a western, or a semi western grip will never end hitting with an eastern at the end of a rally.
Don't know if you play tennis and which grip you use but check next time you play, you'll notice this

I heard he uses a semi western on clay and eastern for others. I use a eastern and find my grip slipping too. On a hard court or concrete etc I will use a eastern FH and bh, a semi and eastern on clay and sometimes a continental on grass.

Yeah, Petzchner, that's it. What a guy.

It didn't hit his racquet...at all. Nothing but leg.

I'm really surprised they didn't try to hit him again...that's probably what I would have done :P

Nothing but leg.

:D

Not sure why I posted Fed's thing in this thread. I think he's using the semi-western one to generate more topspin on that crosscourt shot - if you notice the quite extreme follow-through as well.

To be honest, I think my grip (basically a semi-western) slips sometimes, but not very often. We don't have a great variety of courts where I live, so I mainly play on artificial grass, as well as tarmac and things like that.
Of course sometimes my grip would literally slip, when framing a shot, but hasn't happened since I moved to a slightly heavier racquet :p
