That's got to be one of the biggest surprise winners in a Womens GS for a very very long time.

I usually like to see the big names win the big events but all credit to Schiavone, nobody can ever take it away from her.

Watchable final aswell.

old final:
2001:CAPRIATI-CLJISTERS:16 64 1210 intense match but dominated by unforced error and fear..i remember very well
2002:S.WILLIAM-V.WILLIAMS:75 63 bad match
2003:HENIN-CLJISTERS:60 64 there wasn't a match
2004:MYSKINA-DEMENTIEVA:61 62 dementieva never played that match
2005:HENIN-PIERCE:61 61

Stosur didn't play that well at all. She's a Doubles and Mixed Doubles Grand Slam winner, those volleys she missed were.

But I'm happy for Franny, Flavia was crying from happiness!

Congratulations to Schiavone :!: She played with so much passion, every point. She really believed in herself. The way she played the tie break was fantastic, really aggressive play on matchpoint. Real fun to watch. Although I wanted to Stosur to win, Schiavone definately won me over.

I'm happy for you Petrelli

By the way, the stats you posted earlier was the wrong way round! Schiavone had more aces, winners and less unforced errors than Stosur.

So now that the first of the all male singles finals has been decided, we now turn our attention to the second one between Rafa and the Sod.

Here are some stats regarding their performance in this year's RG leading up to the final:

Speaking after his semi-final win over Jurgen Melzer on Friday, Nadal tried to play down his previous clashes with Soderling. “I think he was very shy in the beginning,” he said.
“But he has improved his personality over the past year. I think he says 'hello’ more often now.” (www.Telegraph.co.uk)

"Nerves are always there. It´s gonna be a very tough match, only playing my best i´ll have a chance to get the title, and that´s what i´m gonna try, if it works.... great! if not i´ll go to Queen's with a clear conscience, i've played a great season so... if i can not win, it's ok , my confidence is high"

"You don´t play a Grand Slam final every day, the season can be perfect or almost perfect, we´ll see"

"I have to win 1 more match to be Nº1, at my best level. In 2008 i wasn´t playing better than this year."

"Every year the final is different, special, there´s nothing bigger"

"I see this final as a big title, if i win i won´t be better, my life is not gonna change, and if i lose... the same...nothing´s gonna change. Based on my own experience i know that after victories as well as after defeats, passed 5 months everything will be the same"

"It´s gonna be a hard match...but it´s not the same hitting "bombs" from inside the baseline than from behind the baseline, and that´s up to me. i have to make him run, and if, despite all, he beats me, i´ll congratulate him because he will have been better than me"

As Murda says....VAMOS RAFA!!! hahahaha
