I think we have Seles to blame for that. Or actually, the ITF/WTA for not doing something about it before it got out of control. Remember when they threatened to penalize Seles when her screams reached a certain decibel? They should have stuck with that idea.

Dont usually watch much womens matches, I did when Capriati was playing as was only player really i liked , but am surprising enjoying watching Serena williams playing at the moment , tho she looks like she doesnt have to do too much to beat this Zvonreva girl

You're right Seles & the powers that be have alot to answer for! I can't concentrate on the tennis when there's two of them screaming at each other like that....it just makes a mockery of the game in my opinion. It's so not necessary aswell & I think it's that that really bugs me!

They've let it go on to long and now all the juniors are doing it, if they said look next year if you are going ott in matches with the shrieking you gonna start getting docked points, games and matches a lot would stop without much issue.

I don't consider Serena a villain on the WTA, she's just massively confident and she has the right to be, her GS titles back it up, and she's put on clutch performances in the past...

As far as strength, steroids, Maria kills the ball too, but performance enhancing drugs for her I've never seen brought up before. Why would lesser ranked players get banned but not the superstars of the game? The sisters came out swinging since their beginnings on the tour and pretty much shocked the game, sister act and all, I'm sure people were like, hell no, test them. Maria's cursed on court too, just not as audible lol.

There's Kvitova who murders the ball, Azarenka, Bartoli, Svetlana has a massive forehand, Gajdosova, Ivanovic has a huge forehand, Lisicki - a lot of women hit hard and have big serves (petrova, stosur...)

The WTA doesn't need anybody but professional women players that want to play. Do the Williams Sisters have a enigma about them that makes the WTA more interesting...idk maybe - their one of the great stories in sports history. They play a tourney or two than the minimum, they can be beaten...they are veterans and well known and I don't think the tour suspects them to retire without more titles. Fans don't either.

I agree with you. Picking out this quote is mainly for argument sake i guess.

I can see a big reason why this could be the case. The reason being the fact that superstars bring in money for the ATP/WTA. People come to the tournaments to see these players compete.

The next reason can be seen in cycling. There a lot of former champions got caught . Nowadays whenever a rider does something extraordinary you hear people saying it must be because of what he used. The sport lost its credibility. Trust me, there are a lot of sports out there that protect their superstars to make sure their sport stays credible.
