Daniela Hantuchova

Talk about anything related to the ATP and WTA tours.

Generally Women's tennis does not deliver when the big players match up, there are far to many capitulations that tend to happen.

For the most part the Men always produce high quality, competitive matches.

Maybe the Women will improve with the return of Clijsters and Henin but we'll see.

Neither can most tennis players. But what Hantuchova has achieved even though she is a horrible mover and a big choker, is rather surprising. Hantuchova even has a positive head to head record against Hingis.

Some commentators compare Radwanska to Hingis which is laughable, Hingis skill and awareness where some of the best ever.

Hantuchova seemed to like the pace of ball Hingis gave her, and was one of the few players who Hingis found difficult to read. She beat her both times on the way to winning her titles in Indian Wells.

Ugh Shitexcuseforatennisplayerchova lost to some 18 year old. So 2 weeks in a row two fatty's reach the final and completely ridicule former top 5 players. Only on the WTA. As usual she wins the first set and does absolutely nothing else.

I found her game beautiful to watch. And than came Dementieva and Hantuchova who are now my favorite womens players. Mens tennis is good , but (in my opinion) the tennis only starts getting competitive from the quarters onwards. There's too much of a difference between the top 5 and EVERYONE else, I feel. Maybe thats a good thing but I enjoy not knowing who's going to win.

I agree with you too. I mean Henin was the reason why I started to watch WTA tennis more. Now, she is back so I have to find another way to do so all over again.

I know this is a big bump, but after Dani lost early at her favorite tournament Indian Wells, she came into her worst tournament Miami, beating Patty Schnyder and Nadia Petrova both former top ten players. Nadia is actually ranked higher than Daniela. And was SO close to beating Venus Williams, losing 1-6 7-5 6-4. She was up 6-1 2-0 but than Venus hit 2 spectacular backhand winners which I think got Dani really nervous. Though this is the first time I've ever seen Daniela play a match thinking of the present ONLY, not complaining about past errors and what could happen in the future. She also looks to have gained some muscle which is always a good thing for someone of her body type.

Great clip!
For once, she does not fold like a cheap tent when the match gets tense.
Bad luck at 4-4 3rd set, who knows what would happen if she did hold.
I hope she gets some confidence back even though the spring hardcourt season is over...

Big Update: Daniela on her worst surface, clay, beat Jelena Jankovic two times in a row, bringing Slovakia into the world group and reaching the Semi's of Charleston.

Too bad she choked bad against Franny in Rome today. We now have to hear more BWA-HEEEE
