You can even top the rankings without ever winning a Slam.

Well, Rios can thanks Korda... To me, Rios has been a superb #1... What crazy angles he was able to find ! What a magical left hand he had ! He was playing a bit like Coria did after him.

Going back a little, but I don't think olympics needs to be amateur only...
Having said that, my heart says that if the olympics isn't the pinnacle achievement of a particular sport, then it shouldn't really be in it. I won't complain though because I love watching tennis!

Re: good sports and bad sports- surely part of the fun of the olympics is being able to sit in your armchair watching, and then casting judgement on whether or not it's a mickey mouse sport :P

Does anybody think Roddick can shock the world and win his home slam as he retires. It really would be the all american story to win your own slam on your retirement
To win is to achieve success. To compete and lose and try again is greatness

that is the perception but not the fact they dont hand out gold medals and you only get one shot once every four years. points aside if rod laver , sampras, and fed had a singles medal this wouldn't be discussed. it bothers me that everyone focuses on its place in tennis when we have seen what winning a medal meant to roger, delpo, murray, rafa when he won gold, nole 's bronze. anad to me thats all that matters. the players that show up CARE they show and leave all on the line in the quest for gold.
