xd I hesitated to formulate it like this (Ca se dit aussi comme ca en anglais d'ailleurs ?)

Tournament starting Monday and US Open in the horizon, think he made the good choice if he was a 'little' injured.. One break down against Djoko and not at 100% physically, there's no **** way : /

So did Tsonga quit because he couldn't play or because he couldn't win? Crowd can afford to be a bit peeved if it was the latter and some of his comments could be interpreted that way.

it seems he had been having pain in his right forearm for the last 3 days, and during the match against Djokovic it went worse, so he decided to quit.

"It was hard to hit powerful shots with that pain, that's why i made that decision"

"Don't have the pretension of beating Djokovic without my arm"

"Djokovic plays an incredible tennis, but he's not an "alien""
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

Typical tsonga goes into tsunami mode for fed, then quits against nole, im happy he is in the top ten but now they need to keep him away from fed. and he needs to lose weight for a guy to be 6'2 and weigh 90kgf or 200 pounds is too much heck delpo at 6'4 weighs less

btw i watched the match again this morning, and mmm it's seems like Djokovic was so superior that Wilfried quit, that's all, of course Tsonga had pain in his arm but not to quit.
I mean...when he was at the net he said to Djokovic "I play next week", so i guess he had pain but he could have finished the match, problem is that the match was done and he wanted to be fully recovered for next week.
For me it's ok, the problem here is the people who paid the tickets to watch 2 SFs

He really could and should have finished, it seemed to be that he realised he wasn't 100% and couldn't win, not that he wasn't feeling great and couldn't finish.

Interesting next week possibly Delpo v Fed 2nd round.

Extra lame. I like Tsonga despite his silly victory celebration, but -10 respect points for that type of retirement.

Crowd would have seen 3 more short and not interesting games, moreover Tsonga could have injured himself much more, don't think it's a big deal.. Except for crowd itself who paid as moralspain said, but no need to make his trial here..

If everybody quit because they were feeling a little under the weather and hence couldn't win we would hardly see any matches concluded. Imagine if this had been a few years ago and the other way around, djokovic would be getting major criticism.

Man up and play it out. It's reminiscent (but not as bad) of Henin's retirement against Mauresmo in the final of Wimby. She knew she wasn't going to win and quit/took her ball home.
And yeah, it totally sucks for people who payed quite a bit of money to see a SF of a Masters series event. You go expecting quality tennis, not for someone to puss out after 13 games.

As far as injuring himself further, seriously? If you're so sure it would have been a 6-0 set (just 3 short games as you said), it seems unlikely he would have strained very hard to lose every point.
I just REALLY dislike people giving up on matches when they're not seriously injured. Nadal gets a lot of respect here from me. He might say he was hurt later ( :) ), but he ALWAYS tries to finish, no matter the score or chance of winning.
