In ways, Murray does admittedly remind me of the boxer from a good few years ago - Chris Eubank.

Not in personality - Eubank was an arrogant churlish showman...but he was outspoken about knowing that boxing was a 'mugs game', and how he was only in it for the money.

That's where I see parallels with Murray - he'll never come out and say that, but it's the sense I get from him - he'd wants to get as deep as possible in every tournament, playing percentage tennis all the way...hammering his fitness, working on everything....except aggressive flamboyant play. And it's a bit crap to watch, being perfectly honest.

I still want him to win and do well, but I'll definitely admit his style and that of Djockovic.....effective but dull and watching paint dry.

Murray played Dolgopolov a couple of years back and played with flair and aggression and was a pure joy to watch - don't remember if it was the US or Aussie open but it was really great to watch.

Did anyone see Isner v Nadal in the Cinc final?!? Reckon Isner could be a real force in future....he pushed Nadal sooo close...and the Nadal we're seeing now...I don't know...he's a different player from a couple of years back...in some ways, to my mind, better than he was back then...

Thoughts?

I've always been a big mutant hater, and I do agree with Dragos to a point.
However I do also think that Murray is right now the best player on grass, I think his Wimbledon victory was a long time coming and is deserved. That being said I think a Djokovic/ Nadal or Federer at their very best wood still steamroll him there. As for the US Open i think the fact that Djokovic played a set the Saturday, then had to play 3 sets the Sunday and then 5 sets on the Monday against Murray was a big factor in helping him win.

I would not call it Chess BTW - maybe checkers

Yeah, their matches are so tactical they become boring. Neither want to give the other too much angle, and they spend all their time trying to out maneuver each other. They are too scared to come to the net because both have the ability to pass from anywhere.

That's not true.. In 2011 he took federer to 5 sets and next day defeated nadal in 4 sets.. So it's illogical to say that only a 4 setter match in semifinal caused Nole to lose in us open last year.

In my opinion it doesn't matter if Murray has taken advantage of roger/rafa/Nole bad shape.. Cuz in the end of the day he still won those two grand slams.. And let's not forget that in this year wimbledon nadal came off by winning french open and Nole by reaching the semis so both of them were not in bad shape.. I don't think Murray will be able to beat rafa in the slam again but when it comes to Nole or federer then he ll always have a chance.. Provided Murray doesn't face rafa in a slam he has got a very good chance of winning it

Please look back on records of that tournament, and you'll find djokovic had a days rest between the two matxhes, he played federer on 10th, and nadal on the 12th.
Secondly just because you can do something one year, doesn't necessarily mean you can do it a year later.

Just a bit of fun from the good old days: The Mutant will fall in the first week of the USO!
Ban Djokovic forever!

They should make The Mutant play qualifying rounds.

Actually they need to run DNA tests to make sure 'Andy Murray' isn't just his mother without a wig on.
