List could go on, Carl Lewis was tested positive durng the '88 US trials but protected by the USATF, Linford Christie was tested positive before as well. If you want to rewrite history books, Calvin Smith (the bronze medal winner) should've been awarded gold at the 100m in Seoul.
Yes the Tour De France has become a Tour de Farce. Too many top cyclists involved, also Pantani (who ironically went on strike at the TDF '98 but got caught later on), Bjarne Riis, etc. Even oldie Eddie Mercks later admitted to taking enhancers. Indurain seems to have been clean throughout his career.
Merckx has been suspended for doping in his career. He now avidly avoids talking about it to not hurt the atmosphere surrounding him in Belgium (he has the status Pantani has in Italy and Armstrong in USA). And it wasnt without reason that Indurain stopped in 1996 right before they began measuring hematocrit values (high is a sign of EPO).

Ive said this before and will say it again. The number of cases in cycling is always seen as a sign the sport is dirtier as other sports. Sounds weird to me somehow. I see it as a sign that other sports choose not to test or punish properly.
