In USA there are tons of green clay courts, lots of the indoor too. Whoever came up with these needs to be shot, on the blue clay, to make an example.

I don't think you can really call it clay. It's much faster, and you can't slide on it very well.

However, all the old guys in my area love it - they get the softer feel on their knees, without the long points you usually have on the red clay.

If Rafa wins in Madrid, he's gonna praise the blue clay to heaven.

Nahhh Gael got his number. He is faster, has more weapons. Unless Monfils completely unravels...

these are my must see.
Milos Raonic (CAN) v David Nalbandian (ARG)
Radek Stepanek (CZE) v Bernard Tomic (AUS)

Good call Corbon, by two matches where less exciting. Nalbandian looked he didn't care for it at all. :x

You are spot on Rob. The bounce is more consistent too. This thing indoors (well all clay), if not watered regular makes my cough and dries up my eyes and lips. MEH!

The balls have a higuer bounce which is good for players like Nadal, Ferrer, ....well for all the clay specialists because that type of clay amplify their spin, more effective
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

I missed almost everything, ATP wrote that there was an internet blackout in Madrid, so there was very little streaming.

From Djokovic, to Gasquet, Monfils, Nadal, Simon, Bellucci everyone seem to hate that.

They all say it's not a tennis court, they should come with soccer shoes...

Very solid game by Rafa, of course Denko didn't offer much resistance.

One of the commentators said that he's playing with his grass court shoes.

It doesn't really matter who hates it or not, everyone has to deal with it, the rest is just adaptation.

Here in Spain, the commentators said that Rafa tried to play with grass shoes, but since Roland Garros 2009 it's forbidden by the ATP to play with that shoes in clay, and finally he have had to play with normal shoes.

I had tickets for today's session (day and night), but i have too much to study and finally i couldn't go. I have had to give the tickets to a friend
  I would have liked very much to see Ferrer - Stepanek, Nadal- Davidenko, Tsonga - Harrison and of course Federer - Raonic :(

Rafa request to wear grass-court shoes denied
Ticker - Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Rafael Nadal tells reporters in Madrid that he asked the ATP to allow him to play with grass-court shoes on the blue clay, but he wasn’t allowed to because rules prevent it. Players have complained that the surface is too slippery. Veteran coach and TV analyst Darren Cahill said on Twitter that the grass-court shoes were banned at Roland Garros beginning in 2003.

Stupid rule that. :nono

Carlos Moya (co-director of the tournament) have said, that the reason of the rule is because grass shoes, destroys the clay court

I can't understand why in this tournament isnt allowed (like an exception). The court looks like an ice rink

Nadal after loss: "If it continues like this, next year there will be one less tournament in my calendar."

Sour sour grapes! So very typical.
