I heard that Rafa actually used to be very quick to start a new point, but Tio Toni made him slow down and go through rituals to gain concentration.
It's way too slow, though, and no doubt puts off many opponents. (Remember the famous altercation with Soderling at Wim?)

i agree with all you said, but anyone here believes that he has achieved in tennis is because he has been taking consistently more than 20 sec between points in all his matches? come on!!, it helps him? yeah of course, otherwise he doesn't do it, but i don't think it's the key of his career success, ...annoying? maybe, and if he's beating your favorite player then there's no doubt it's annoying as hell

I don't believe that what he achieved in tennis is just because he takes 40 seconds between points.
I never said anything like that.... I just said it's annoying!

Sure, it would be annoying if he's doing it when beating your favourite player, but what annoys me most is when Rafa plays Novak. Then it happens on both sides, and an extra hour gets added to the match time (not even exaggerating!)

Novak at times can bounce the ball a maddening amount of times.

you know what? i agree i guess, problem is that i'm on the other side, i mean my favorite player (at least one of my favorite players) is Rafa and i'm kinda blind i guess
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

Lol you are taking this conversation too personally moralspain. Fed fans don't need to be resentful towards nadal cuz fed still has more slams than anyone today. And what did he took from federer apart from no1 ranking? .. Which federer took back again in less than one year. It's a game soo yea someone will lose someone will win I m not comparing these two. They have earned too much success in their own way. Only thing that most of the people say is that nadal has got some really annoying traits on court

Yea like I said I m not comparing these two. I only said that nadal has some annoying habits on the court. And I didnt even say that those habits of time violation is his key to success. A player like rafa doesn't need all of these time violation things to do..

It's these rivalries that make tennis so interesting. Imagine a Federer without Nadal, he would've won a couple of Grand Slams by now. Still consider Delpo's US Open victory a fluke. There's no denying that Federer is the most complete player ever but he has met his bane in Nadal.

As a married guy with two kids, I love, love, love it when Nadal plays Djokovic. The wife is constantly asking me to do stuff around the house. I tell her, "Yes honey, as soon as this match is over."

Watched their AO final from start to finish. Didn't do crap around the house on that day. :)
