Damn these 2 will never fight :D

Told ya ;)

Btw, Rafa seems more worried about season length, while the others seem concerned about % of pay from slams and other tourneys.

Yeah it seems true, but its a results based game... you can't expect to get big paychecks for losing 1st round.

All the top players have multi-million sponsor contracts and if you're hot like Sharapova, prize money from tournaments is just a nice bonus. It's mostly players outside the top 10 who may get in financial difficulties if they can't play because if injury etc.

Agree with the comments regarding the other 300 plus players that make up the tour at all levels needing plenty or tourneys just to have a chance of earning the money just to stay on the tour.

The top guys can pretty much do what they want, Federer has always worked a good schedule for himself. Nadal was more than happy to play pretty much every week on clay to elevate himself for most of his career.

It's not just the schedule and prize money they are discussing about, Nadal (and some other players) like the idea of a 2-year ranking system - similar to that you know from golf. Federer commented on the 2-year ranking system at the World Tour Finals, dismissing it as being unfair to youngsters and lower ranked players because thus it would be more difficult to break through in the rankings.

Nadal says he wants such a ranking system because it is good for injured players so that they don't fall to a low rank. Well, here is one example: With a 2-year ranking system Del Potro wouldn't be top 20, not even top 30 at the moment (he is ranked 11th right now). In short term it may be good, but in long term not good for the injured player.

To spice it up a bit: Djokovic with his incredible 2011 season would not have been ranked number 1 at the end of the season with a 2-year ranking system.

I guess Federer would not have many fans among other players if he requested faster courts and lighter balls. ;)

Would love to see that. Lets not forget Nadal is a brilliant ambassador and a great guy but is a BIT whiny at times, such as talk of the 'illegal' surface the US were going to pick for the davis cup tie? wtf? And now this. But would definetly love a tournament to just change their balls and surface one year and tell the players it has been quickened, but not exactly to what degree haha. Paris masters did it in 2010 before slowing it again. Wimbledon should try out the old grass mix again, the slowdown has come from firmer courts but also the mix, perhaps the old mix on a firm court will tweak it. One of the reasons for switching to 100% ryegrass was cosmetic, they said the court looked burnt out after two weeks of play... but now as its slower the wear is more uneven and the baseline is completely destroyed while he rest not so bad. look at say the wimbledon 99 final, the court is in much better shape, as the wear is more even.

I wouldn't mind seeing the opposite - the new grass with the softer court. Keep it a bit slower like today, but with a lower bounce. Whichever combination helps the volleyers most, without going back to a serve contest, is what I would favor.

Right! we need players more from the 'henman school' of SV, based on touch and technique and volley angles, rather then the ivanesevic school of hit it and follow it in haha.
