Rafa played one of the worst matches i've seen from him ever, he won just because Mardy didn't played well either and because he's a warrior and never gives up
btw, he seemed exhausted during the match

His face and his look was... hm... I wonder how he managed to finish a 3 hour match in that state...

@MoralSpain I agree. Fed-Tsonga was a mediocre match, but Rafa-Fish was one of the worst matches I've ever seen. Both guys were moonballing from positions where they should have been attacking from.
Seemed like they were both scared to hit a groundstroke. Fish's forehand was bad beyond words. Both served poorly, but Nadal especially.
I hope the level of tennis picks up - this was a bad first day.

Apparently Rafa ate some salmon pre-match and got sick.
Almost turned out to be a double Fish whammy as he had to play Mardy later on.

David beats Murray in 2 sets, great win, i watched the 2nd set and Murray played too many soft shots, one of the good things from Andy is the variety, he's able to hit hard shots, soft shots, slices, change the pace.....but today he did nothing.

I wouldn't say Ferrer had a great win over Murray. For large parts of that match, the two of them were playing shockingly bad tennis and it often devolved into who managed to not dump the ball into the net or hit it out in under 3 shots wins. I have to say, it was pretty painful to watch and I thought it couldn't get poorer than the Fish vs Nadal match but it somehow did... :?

And Murray played too many soft shots because he couldn't get a ball in if he didn't hit ultra safe soft shots! The quality was pretty bad considering it's meant to be the tournament reserved for the best.

great win not because his performance but because he was able to beat Murray on hard court, i agree that the quality of the matches played so far was not the expected from the 8 best payers

I've always liked watching Berdych play even if he can be kind of a retard sometimes.

He has some of the 'easiest', most relaxed looking strokes, especially off his BH side. I'm always amazed at how much pop he gets from his BH with such a relaxed swing.

Berdych = amazing, don't know if he will finally make it, but he definetely deserves the win, Nole is just chasing the ball, can't remember last time Nole being dominated by a player like today

Not just the game, but the tie break as well with at least four forehand unforced errors.

a shame, don't use to say this when talking about tennis, but if you've watched the match you realize that only one player was on court, Nole did nothing, anyway good match

Berdych is the ultimate choker in tennis, always has been, hes got better at not doing it so much recently, but when he was younger he would work himself into great positions all the time against the then number 1 Roger Federer and choke it away, everyone knew he had talent.. just his mental side of his game is weak, and has been forever.
