I'd also say he is one of the few players to transcend tennis, especially now through his philanthropy. He is a "real" human being and I think that is why he became so popular.

Are there any major ommissions from the hall of fame?

I'm pretty sure the Tennis Hall of Fame has the other problem and elects way too many people who shouldn't be there.

Off couse yes. He was a genius in his prime. One of the most enjoyable players to watch.
