Anti-tennis Wozniacki beaten

Talk about anything related to the ATP and WTA tours.

@coolhand-Yes, we watch the same match. It is true Li Na started to actually think instead of bludgeon the ball and Wozniacki started to fade because of fatigue. Don't get me wrong, Li Na played a good match and deserved to win. It should not take 20 errors before you realize that your game plan needs to be changed. I was a bit dissappointed with Woz because I've seen her play against Radwanska and handle all kinds of crazy balls with ease. She should have allotted more points to stamina against Li Na, lol!

I'm not saying matches are not on her terms just because she does not hit a lot of winners but she literally does just get the ball back compare to someone like Hingis who manipulated the ball and created in her own way.

At the WTA final against Clijsters I thought she showed signs of getting the balance right and using the backhand offensively but she seems to have taken a step back.

Wozniacki, I would say falls in the same type of bracket with other former No 1's like Safina, Jankovic and also Ivanovic. (At least the latter did win one Slam.)
Very poor in representing the best that women's tennis has to offer in terms of on-court ability, in my opinion. When I think of quality I certainly don't think of a Safina or a Wozniacki.
I mean for me when I think of the No 1 player, it's in terms that it means a quality elite formidable type of player that's the absolute best that this planet at this current time has to offer.
Wozniacki in no way whatsoever, (except in that way  ) get's me enthusiastic in her abilities or interested in watching her particular brand of tennis.

The way you have to think of it is if some mental tennis alien came to earth and said 'i will destroy this planet unless a puny human can beat me at tennis', and the world had to vote for one player to play and save humanity, then that is the real no1. and the world would vote for serena, lol.

Well, at least she's somewhat attractive...

Safina... Henin... Kuznetsova... Jankovic... Serena...

Because let's be honest, there's so little flair and variety in women's tennis right now that I need a little more incentive to watch.

Serena looked OK that one time in the US Open when she had on the red dress and her hair was strait... she looked pretty good to me...

just don't look at still shots of her backhand or forehand... (the grimace on her face is ...blegh... ) but off the court she's better looking than the other listed chicas

On another note did you see Li's on court interview, she has been pretty entertaining in them, some of it down to the language barrier but fun all the same.

I like this and totally agree....there is the ATP World #1 and then there's the Alien Invasion #1

Everybody knows who the former is but the latter is up to the true fans to decide

No it isn't because unlike Murray, Wozniacki has always had a very good mentality.

Woz mentality fine I jsut don't think her play style good enough. If she sticks with this play style she is going to have to be lucky that no big hitters or clean consistent hitters are in her draw.

I agree, she is just lacking in the technique/skills department. Mentally she seems to be fine, but her FH is seriously heinous. You would never see a male world #1 with a suspect forehand. Last one that was even close was maybe Hewitt, but even his forehand was extremely solid, just not much of a big weapon.

Good to see a competitive womens final with a lot of extended rallies and no grunting! They were both hitting big but with control and Clijsters really ground it out in the end.
