really? wow, i guess this is because he got points in Madrid, isn´t it?

So if Federer reaches the semi, he s gonna break Sampras´ all time record for sure, right?

I believe if he reaches the semi's then he's assured of at least tying the record.
But I think he has to get to the finals (assuming of course that Rafa wins RG) to make sure of passing the 286 week mark.
